Round One: Griffin was a little bit busier; but Rampage gets the round because of the knockdown. 10-9 Rampage

Round Two: Griffin dominates. 19-19 even

Round Three: Slight advantage to Griffin for solid striking and volume. 29-28 Forrest

Round Four: Rampage rebounds strongly with his power shots - hurting Forrest early and sustaining the advantage. 38-38 even

Round Five: Griffin just outworks Rampage to take the round. 48-47 Forrest Griffin wins.

An extremely close fight, where both fighters clearly won two rounds each - the swing round is the third, and I think Griffin slightly won it.

That's pretty much exactly how I scored and it and why. It was certainly close, but I gave Forrest the slight edge (as much as that pained me).

Jibes with how I saw it. Griffin is the new champ. Rampage took him lightly and paid the price.

Forrest wont be the worst champion in the history of the UFC, he wont keep his belt longly, because I'm nearly sure Chuck is gonna KO him, but still, I,m happy for him

i doubt chuck would ko him at this point in his career, i think machida will end up with the title sooner rather than later.

I'm not sure why people still don't give Forrest credit, his last 2 wins wern't flukes, he's going to give hell to anybody.

I think Dana is gonna throw someone at Machida, wait that Chuck beat Evans, give Forrest to Chuck, and make a superfight Chuck vs Machida

I don't know, I give him credit, I was rooting for Rampage, but I feel like he wont be a dominant champ

the beauty of mma is that a champ has to be outstanding to be dominant....so many variable, so many attributes needed, such physical conditioning..you step in the ocatagon with any of these less than 100% you may be in trouble....

forrest may not, hell IS not the best rounded, most skillfull fighter, but his attitude and training ethic exemplify the sport for me....this is a guy who is NEVER out of shape, who has a heart the size of a country and who will fight anyone..i dont mean turn up and lay down..i mean fight....whats not to like???

i doubt he will be long reigning champ, he may even lose to jackson if they rematch, but i watched that fight least night and thought that he just edged it...better workrate, better technical skills, better generalship....and he DOMINATED a fighter supposedly several echelons above him in teh second....at no point did jackson dominate griffin....im a huge fan of both of them so i was on a win/win last night....but all this contreversial decision bs is tiring me out..there is a huge difference between a contreversial decision and a close one??..

the proof of the pudding was the classy jacksons comments....he obviously didnt feel robbed, so who are we to feel vicariously indignant for him....

I agree. Forrest holds back to back wins over Shogun Rua and Rampage Jackson. That's pretty much how one becomes an elite fighter - by beating elite fighters.

I've always considered Griffin the Arturo Gatti of MMA. Even Gatti was champion on several occasions. This should be as thrilling a championship run as we'll ever see.

Your scorecard makes total sense. I just can't understand these people who are bitching that Rampage got robbed.

As for Griffin as a champ, he might find his reign short as I expect they'll put him in against Liddell should Chuck beat Evans.
But matchup for Forrest in my opinion.

Unlike 155, 170 and 185 where there is a dominate champ 205 has a shitload of fighters who can win the title any giving night.

Forrest,Chuck,Machida,Wand, shogun,Thiago Silva,Jardine,Vera,Soko, Rashad,Rampage not to mention even hamill and now maybe Franklin and Anderson.

The hardest thing about this division is who get's the next title shot.
