My take on Marciano Vs Ali

I hate when people talk about how old someone's opponent was but ignore the fighter in question being even older. Wheb Ali fought frazier in manilla, Ali was 2 years older than frazier with even more wear and tear and had fought all kinds of wars with foreman, Norton, Chuvalo, etc. He had been in nearly twice as many fights as frazier and had a 3 year layoff. Stop this nonsense now, its just like how people dont give mayweathwr credit for beating pacquiao when he was even older than pacquiao.

And if frazier wasnt a great heavyweight "by any means" then marciano was a C level fighter. Stop tearing down great champions to make your case, you end up looking foolish.

 

He allowed Chuvalo to attack his body ,its a mystery when occasionally some poster doesn't grasp this.

That fight actually makes the case for Ali giving Marciano hell!

 

You can win every round yet still be made to work hard and receive punishment.

 

You are going to receive punishment in any 15rd fight.In this case that does not equate to a right going over or being given hell .
The body bombardment Chuvalo and Foreman landed on Ali proved he could take body shots without wilting, and don't tell me Marciano hit harder than Foreman because he patently didn't!
An old Ali took the right hand of Shavers without hitting the deck.Ali is proven in the fire for this fight Marciano is not!

 

His body showed in the long run it couldn't handle it when his kidneys started failing, him pissing blood also shows that his body was screaming NO back then!

 

But not because of the Chuvalo fight.
Ali laid on the ropes and allowed sparring partners to hit him to the body,you know this or should do,he took more body shots in training than he did in most fights, it was his misguided way off conditioning himself to take the punches in real fights.
Anybody knock Ali down with a body shot ?
Ali took Frazier's left hook to the body for 41 rds.
He took Norton's body attack for 42 rds.
He took Foreman's cannonades for 8 rds.
Yet he is going to fold from Marciano's?
I don't know if this is news to you or not ,but its not uncommon for fighters to urinate blood after gruelling fights .

 

He pissed blood after the fight and had to visit the hospital, this was Chuvalo's doing and nobody else's.

Who said he would fold, I'm saying the bout would be very competitive IMO.

So now you're admitting it was a grueling fight for Ali despite Chuvalo winning very few rounds?

 

Several mentions of Ali pissing blood ... what's the source for this? Not to be crude, but unless Ali admitted it himself, or there were (ugh) eyes on witnesses, it becomes an anecdote. Unless he can provide proof, Chuvalo's claims need to be taken with a grain of salt - just because he (or anyone) knew a fighter who pissed blood after a tough fight, doesn't mean Ali did likewise.

 

No, I'm not admitting anything and I've yet to see any evidence Ali visited the hospital after the Chuvalo fight or that he pissed blood ,all I have for this is an unsubstantiated remark that Chuvalo made and I've 3 biographies of Ali, plus Pacheco's book Fight Doctor. You need some proof for this and even if you locate it it still doesn't amount to anything definitive because, as I've told you,its not uncommon for boxers to urinate blood, indeed other athletes sometimes do after strenuous exercise. Bottom line you have jack **** here. Got to go I'm playing cards today.

 

Chuvalo does not seem the type to lie. I'll take his word over anyone on here.

So now it was the exercise that likely caused the bleeding and not from the shots he was taking.

I don't know who this guy is, but he has no idea what he is talking about, and I am a huge Marciano fan. Ali loved Marciano and sang the guy's praises, but Frazier was also great and Ali himself the greatest.

 

Owned? News to me. Just like Ali pissing blood because of a bit of strenuous exercise is.

I prefer good old Brag.
