My take on Roy Jones vs Felix Trinidad and what this means for the future

jones looked ok last night, till you remember winky totally shut out tito, and b hop beat the granny out of him, roy won, and clearly, but by nowhere close to margins of the previous two fights.
calzaghe would **** jones today, he is waaaay too busy for a fighter who was fighting at most 45 seconds per round last night.
in patches roy still looks good, perhaps good enough for a lot of top ten fighters, but calzaghe? no. ****in. chance.

 

Ah, no, we got out wires crossed. I don't think Hopkins is a worthy opponent for Joe either! I know many people rate him Top 10 p4p...but...not me...still, I guess the reason people rate him is because he beat Winky...who was highly ranked too...:think

If Joe wants to fight NAMES for a lot fo money, to spruce up his shabby resume, RJJ will do as well as Bhops. It's not as if he's fighting a Bhops that is as close to his prime as Joe is; it's not as if Bhops can beat him, fair and square...(my controversial opinion, anyway)...

What you saw is what Roy is now at 39 !!

He can't be expected to have the legs that he use to becuase he's 39 1 yr away from 40 !!

For an almost 40 yr old he sure did look better than Beika and Manfredo !!

I find it hilarious that people actually think that Calzaghe would manhandle Jones !!

Who's the last person he Ko'ed ??Mario Veit ?? I would pick Joe based on workrate as I am doing so against Hopkins but yall need to stop Joe has never been a dangerous puncher !! I look at his one sided thrashing of a green Lacy if he had pop that fight could of ended in 6 rds ..But people think he is going to KO Jones who's knockouts have come at the hands of much bigger punchers ??Its baffling the logic that runs around here !!

Another thing what had him so dominant in yrs past has to have dwindled its called age ..The hand speed and the defense is still good enough to compete with any so called elite fighter ..I'd bet against a fighter the likes of Calzaghe you see Jones let his hands go .. more in that fight ..I pray they makae it happen ..

 

Suddenly Tito has a suspect chin? I would take his chin over 90% of them out there....even at this stage

 

Jones has no hope in hell of beating a top guy because he like most other old guys cannot fight at the pace of a fresher game top guy. Joe would **** him. And who gives a **** if Joe's not a power puncher its not like Roys going to walk him down like a chavez or a duran. And frankly Joe's got enough pop to hurt Roy anyway.

 

at age 39, i do believe only rjj can perform like that. these flashes of brillance you were talking about were coming from a man twice my age and i respect him because he was still able to do that even if he could not sustain it for long periods of time.

rjj deserves his due but he is far from contender material. let's just take what the fight for what it really was. two old fighters doing it one more time for money and to relive past glory
