These are my ten favourite pictures in boxing.

Pep and Saddler. Classic picture. These two were locked together in a brutal series, but they look like they're embarking on nothing more dangerous than a dance here.

Frazier and Durham awaiting the FOTC decision. I love the way Durham looks like he's the one in the protecting role over the then most dangerous fighter in the world.

From Oscar-Manny. Look at the way Pacquiao has himself braced up on his toes, over-developed calf muscles. Check the fear in Oscar's eyes

Here, Galento is to unconcsious to register fear - but look at Joe's face. He's far from finished with "the little man" who took liberties with him in the run up to the fight

Joe Frazier getting a row from the referee, presumably for scoring one of the most celebrated KD's in history, a prone Ali looks like he'll do anything but get up casually in this picture.

Hagler sparring. Looks like he's taking it seriously, doesn't he?

Love this uppercut by Louis on Mann. What always impresses me is how granite like and still Louis appears, the perfect delivery of torque, whilst his fist is blurred and Mann's face is deeply indistinct.

Another great uppercut, probably the best of this era, Marquez splitting Diaz's guard and sending a "bigger man" message to his larger foe. Who looks the bigger fighter here?

This would be an alarming shot if you didn't know that Green was well a few moments later. Total collapse with a Sugar hovering dangerously.

Tiger smashing Giardello. Awesome moment captured on camera.

Post one or two of yours.

IMO, easily the best boxing photo ever taken. When I first seen it I thought it was a painting as it looks staged rather than captured during the heat of the moment.

Familiar picture. This pic encapsulates boxing to me. The sheer physical roughness of the activity and a fighter absolutely imposing his will on his opponent.

Here is George Bellow's artwork "Stag at Sharkey's" from 1909 for comparison.

Colour photographs seem to work best, when visual elements are kept to a minimum.

I find this pic particularly haunting.
