So your baseline assumption is that Wlad always fought like he always has and Haye promises to bring something new? That's the argument to assume Wlad will crumble? Quite a stretch IMO. I would never give a rat's ass about what fighter's promise pre-fight. It's usually worthless gibberish.
we'll just have to see who lands the big punch first. The problem is haye is more confident in throwing his big punches than wladimir.
Is that so? Haye throws few jabs that's why his % of power punches may be higher. His overall power punches per round output is still lower than Wlad's in recent fights isn't it?
No it was more like if Haye comes out with some kind of style that gives Wlad problems, can he abandon his gameplan and make the adjustments necessary to win. I did realize after that he did get knocked down several times in the Peter fight and was still able to win the fight.
If you watch Wlad - Byrd II you'll see how Byrd had a strategy to negate Wlad's jab from round 1 on. It lasted for around 3 rounds then Byrd ran out of gas due to his constant upper body and head movement. But what you see is that Wlad didn't abandon his plan during those initial rounds, nor did he change anything when his jab didn't land for a full 3 rounds. He just kept going and Steward told him to keep doing what he's doing. IMO it takes a lot of imagination to assume Wlad will try something radically new if he's presented with stylistic problems in the first few rounds. It wouldn't be the first time. He'll stay patient and see how long his opponent's stamina lasts. This is probably what part of Haye's gameplan is based on. That Wlad will lose his patience and Steward is so angry at Haye and his team that he'll yell at Wlad to become more aggressive. Won't happen. Way too much experience between the two of them.
