I know boxing doesn't work that way...it's all about money. But they have agreed before on the 50-50, one bout doesn't make a massive difference...one of the two were bound to come out with the better PPV figures. I just don't see why they need to complicate things even further...everyone already knows that the blood testing will be difficult to negotiate, why make money an issue when both can be guaranteed upto $40million or more even with a 50-50 split? No-one other than the boxers or promoters themselves should be calling for anything other than a 50-50 split!
It's was pac's camp who turned down Mosley's offer for a fight though. Exactly, and it's going to be the boxers who are do the negotiating. It won't be the fans. It's cool to like Floyd more after his most recent victory, but he's still a damn good businessman and the villain of boxing.
Well either it be Cotto or Shane, one would have been considered "ducked" but the issue is that the numbers can't simply be put next to each other like floyd intends to do.
I'll be questioning Floyd's business savvy and willingness to accept 50/50 when we all know he can't make the same purse fighting anyone else.
You can't compare two non American fighters PPV numbers to two of Americas golden boys, come on now!!
Would you disagree that a 40% split for pac against Floyd would be a bigger purse than he could make for anyone else? It's a two way street. Anyways, pac "doesn't need money" like his fans like to warmly proclaim about him. Would getting 10% less really bother his ego? Another thing we should wait for is the results of pac's results for his campaign in his run for office. I heard it ends May 10th? I don't think we'll actually hear about anything until the end of the month.
No I would not disagree with that, and you're right this thing cuts both ways. Standing on either side of the fence on this issue is the difference between being a ******* and a *****. This fight should be a 50/50 split and probably will be. The issue will still be the testing!
Pac filled a stadium with 50,000 people fighting someone not well known to casual boxing fans. Pbf and Mosely couldn't even sell out MGM in what was considered the biggest fight of this year. That has to count for something in negotiations.
It's obvious that some folk in this thread have never been involved in any serious negotiations. Leverage and value change by the minute. The parameters of that December deal are dead forever. Mayweather destroying Mosley just added additional value to the Mayweather v. Pacquiao matchup. It is silly to expect him to NOT want to be compensated for that.
Then Pac deserves proper compensation for destroying the guy that beat the guy FLoyd just fought. 50/50 and let's get the fight done!
Floyd already said Manny could forget 50/50 once their PPV exceeds Pac/Clottey. Blood test seems easier to solve now since NSAC is now looking at it as part of the protocol (they said they'll come up with a rule about it on fall, let's just wait.) I think 50/50 is just right. Mosley is a bigger commodity than Clottey, so you can't compare the PPVs being generated from this two. Had Pac the one fighting Mosley, I'm sure the PPV result is much different from the one with clottey.
