There is one of two reasons why Haye pulled out against Wlad. 1/ He genuinly hurt his back and if he has does he really need to provide proof. Anyone can go to a doctor and say they have a back injury and get proof as it is imposible to prove otherwise which kind of makes any proof worthless. Or the second option which in my eyes is far more likely. David Haye was aware setanta were going tits up and realised that if they did he would not be getting paid as Wlad had all the ticket sales and the money from HBO and RTL. Im pretty sure there would be a clause in the contract that if a fighter was to pull out of the fight for any reason other than injury then the other fighter would be entitled to compensation. So the safest option for Haye was to withdraw with an injury. This Does not make Haye a ***** or whatever else he has been called he was just protecting himself financialy. Haye obviously fancyed himself in the fight otherwise he would not of agreed to such one sided terms in the contract. (dont forget there was a rematch clause as well if Wlad lost). You can call him what you like but it is pretty obvious that he had no choice to pull out of the fight. Would you fight Wlad for nothing.? I wouldnt.
nah man gotta disagree here. after ALL the huge bs talk out of haye, if he pulled out for ANY reason but a legit injury, hes a b**** and just a wannabe. now im not saying his injury wasnt legit, but to talk like that, it better have been
ever run ur mouth SOOO Much at school about whoopin s-1 that even if u didnt want to later (ie situation wasnt right or the guy was bigger than u thought or something), that u couldnt NOT fight anymore? well i have. theres no way i wouldnt put up after all that talk. it damaged hayes reputation badly and in the long run may have cost him a lot of money. ultimately, altho we dont know for sure if the whole money thing was really the reason, he woulda been better off financially taking the fight (even if he lost, as long as he was competitive, it woulda put him instantly into top 5 hw's and a shot at a lot more big fights, including a huge rematch)
thats pretty ridiculous a man must protect his financial interests over just about anything...im sure haye could care less what people say about him on message boards and anywhere else....if this network was going belly up and he knew there was a chance he wasnt getting paid....well thats a legit reason in my book
great av. i agree, what im saying is by not fighting, regardless of the instant pay out, the guy has to think about long term. in boxing, reputation = money.
boxing is a sport, it's not two guys agreeing to fight to see who's the toughest in the playground. Haye doesn't get paid, his trainer doesn't get paid, his manager doesn't get paid etc. etc. etc.
OR.... Wlad and his team paid him off to keep quiet so Wlad could continue making money off of guys that have no chance, like Povetkin and Chagaev.
Exactly. someone with some sense. I sure as hell would not fight Wlad for nothing if i was Haye. Dont forget he has payed with his own money for a lot of the promotional stuff with his own money through haye maker promotions. He lost a lot pulling out. fighting Wlad would have sent him under if he lost. And that is a huge risk not worth taking.
this is on a much smaller scale...but....when i was 17 and in high school i worked as a busboy at an upscale restaurant....i was the only kid my age working there...mostly early 20's and up....there had been rumors for some time that they may be closing because they were losing money....but the owners, who were very hands on, would always shoot down the rumors....well one day in the middle of the week(i came in to pick up a check) they told everyone that theyd be open through sunday and that would be it.....now for me this was just a job that i had to pay for cd's, ralph lauren addiction, whatever....but for some of the others...they were in college....married with a family whatever....most worked on tips...but there were chefs who were paid pretty well...most of them were concerned about whether or not theyd end up getting paid for their last week...and they were assured they would.....but when it came time for checks...there werent any...and there never was.... im sorry...saying haye might be better off financially if he were competitive with wlad is ridiculous....how many guys are going to get in the ring knowing there is a chance they wont get paid...but thinking "well ya know its not so bad...if i look good in here....i might get a rematch or a decent payday down the road"....lolol
:roll: e-1 keeps ignoring what im saying about the money part of it if haye had won, how much more money would he have guranteed himself in the long run? millions upon millions more.
Thats taking it a bit far mate. I doubt that very much. Im not Wlads biggest fan but i very much doubt he would pull that.
