I am one of his biggest fans so some of you might think im going to kiss his ass. Im not.

Last nights fight was nothing more than the young champion focusing on the future, problems with his promoter, overlooking Campbell's ability, a new experience in the headbutt since he could not see for about a third of the fight, and Campbell putting on the performance of his life.

He was truly tested last night and it hurt to see him lose and not only that but the way he lost. He seemed so discouraged. I think he needs to get an easy bout to get his confidence back and challenge Campbell again since that is three titles he lost.

Anyone know if there is a rematch clause???

Ok now here goes my "excuse" for Juan.
The only thing that bothered me about the fight was how Campbell kept consistently rubbing his head on Juans and i mean it was smart because you could see Juan concentrating more on that than even defending himself or throwing punches.

This will be a great learning experience for Juan and i hope to see him back in the ring soon. He is only 24 and has a great future ahead of him. Make us proud Torito.

i agree... its dangerous for such young fighters to become a champion let alone hold 3 belts in the division.... i think he was just unfocused.. im from houston an now he goes to university of houston dwntown student by day an pro boxing champion superstar by night... i think he jus has to much on his plate an he is in his final semester so he can focus more... DEF. a rematch an get back on top

Juan simply looked bad last night because he finally met that one guy who all boxers eventually meet that they just can't beat. Campbell will always, no matter what, beat the Torito. And I want Juan to know that I really enjoy watching him fight, but he should avoid rematching Campbell.

Nate did rub his head on Diaz eye as much as possible...kinda dirty. I don't think he should have a rematch right away. Take a couple months off so the cut can heal, get a soft opponent to comeback and then maybe do the rematch. He's only 24, no need to rush.

Exactly, I'm 24 have a 9 month old baby, go to school fulltime at unlv m-th at 12 credits, Work fulltime, and that's real hard, so I have alot of respect for Diaz and will support him and his career. This lose can help in my opinion, HE CAN WORK ON A FEW THINGS, BUT I think he should finish school in December. Then comeback

juan has never looked like he could beat a real boxer. juan does not move his head and he doesn't move his feet. he is overrated and it showed last night. beating tomato cans is one thing not beating a 36 year old fighter tells me alot

    Still has a big future.

Campbell is a damn good fighter and I have always thought he had the ability to bag a title. Ever since I saw him years ago taking out James Baker, I thought he was solid in all departments. No shame in loosing to him and it was a pretty good fight.

Juan will be back and better.

I could not help but to agree with you that JUan Diaz aint really that good when it comes to head to head movement, mate. One thing I've observed on Juan's previous fights before Nate is, HE really took several heavy punches from Julio and Frietas. The only difference is, those two fighters easily brokedown after a barrage of punches inflicted by Diaz on them--and truly, Nate was able to overcome that.

Overrated? I don't think he's overrated though. Diaz's relentless punching is something really worth-praising. He has proven that both against Frietas and Julio in a very impressive perforamce. Last night aint just Juan Diaz's night though. Apart ffrom that cut and of course, Nate's notable courage and preparation I guess, Nate really deserves to have those belts...

Anyway, I am expecting a rematch be given to the "Baby Bull".. :good

    I think you're absolutely correct.
Bobby Csyz, the ex-color commentator used to say that every fighter has a bullet with his name on it.
That bullet for Juan Diaz in the lightweight division these days may be Nate Campbell.

I agree with you......Juan Diaz may very well want to get right back in the ring with Campbell.
......I dont think that would be a smart move on Juan Diaz' part.

Campbell beat Juan Diaz pretty soundly.
I mentioned in a different thread that this fight reminded me so much of the Kostya's Tszyu's loss to Vince Phillips.
....Like Campbell, Phillips back then dominated Tszyu and beat him down soundly down the stretch.

Let me say that Tszyu was smart enough back then, take some time off and after that beatdown, swallowed his pride and avoided facing Vince Phillips again.

Its not easy for someone with Mexican blood to do what Tszyu did and swallow his pride, but I'd think it would be wise for Juan Diaz to do so.

To me Juan Diaz is still a great fighter and has a great future ahead of him.

In some ways I feel he really needed this loss, a meaningful loss from which he can grow in boxing. Not only was his fighting spirit crushed the other night, he was beaten at his own game and looked very one dimensional, unable to adapt and establish dominance over any aspect towards the end of the fight.

Campbell knew exactly what to do and followed his plan almost perfectly, even if it was dirty, he really fought the fight of his life. I thought he was gonna gas out by the 6th or 7th round from the intensity of the first 2 rounds but was there to take the belts home.

Diaz is now a free agent and it seems like Golden Boy will pick him up. He will be making some changes to his style and build himself up for a rematch or another super fight. I will not say that Juan will always lose to Campbell because there is a ton of room for improvement. :good

how the **** can you be a juan fan and say that was smart....that wasn't ****en smart unless your a grimy ****face like nate that has to cheat to win...

that was ****en pathetic...nate was slowing down, so as soon as he seen the cut as hiw way out, he started rubbing, butting and fighting dirty......

praising him for that **** is just plain stupid.....

    Exellent Post!:thumbsup

Let me add that Diaz made a fan out of me in defeat......he did'nt use the cut as an excuse and said that he did'nt listen to his corner....he just was'nt able to establish the jab like he wanted too.

.....and then when he grabbed the microphone, and in a state of defeat had the mind to thank every fan that came to see him.
    Man that was class!
