just watched it sober, and it is a lot closer than i thought, without the knockdown or the point deduction it could of been a draw.(i wouldent of argued it either way to be honest):good

its a good job cortez was on khans side as well,he was getting away with murder,butts(2 which i saw,in front of cortez as well) and elbows.
maidana was just as dirty, but he was'nt getting away with it.

a top top fight through and through, defo foty for me:thumbsup

Of course I'd watch it. I'll watch pretty much any boxing. I'm telling you its far from my first choice for Khans next fight.

You'll struggle to justify he won round 11 to be honest if you score it how you're supposed to, i.e. clean effectively punching and ring generalmanship. Khan moved pretty well for the most part and limited Maidana to ineffective uppercuts inside and a few weak left hooks to the body, a tonne of which were counted on Compubox when they were clinching and told to break and he was still hitting.

Khan landed some of his most effective punches in the fight in that round. He landed a huge counter right uppercut that got the crowd on their right and then a short left hand behind it. And then hurt Maidana with a big right hand when fighting off the ropes and a big, short left hook behind it. Maidana may have slightly outlanded Khan in that round but it doesn't exactly tell the whole story.

As I said, a few of those Compubox punches were counted when the referee already called 'break' and Maidana was still pounding Khan with lefts to the body. And none of his punches were effective. Khan landed only slightly less, but his ring generalmanship was better and he landed by far the harder, cleaner, more effective punches.

I terms of excitment the only fight that would be as good around his weight class would be Pacquiao which won't happen.

Alexander and Bradley beat Khan buy being boring and elusive. Mayweather and Berto the same. Alvarez would be exciting.

How are you supposed to score a fight.. theres no rules. People like different things. Khan spent 2:45 of round 11 on his bike.

Completely agree about Khan Maidana looking like Cotto Margarito. Thought that Maidana would catch up and wear him down in the second half. In the 10th it looked like it had happened. Amazing really that that fight lasted 12 rounds.

It doesn't progress Khans career like a Bradley/ Alexander fight though and, improved chin aside, he won a fight he was expected (he was 4/1 on) to in the manner that most people expected him to do it.

He's past Maidana now, time for fresh challenges and lets see if Maidana can get back to winning and get a rematch down the road.

There are rules. I don't have a problem with Maidana getting the 11th, but I thought it was broadly even as a round. Khan did better work and made Maidana miss. Keeping out of the way is a valid tactic as long as you keep punching.

I scored the 11th even. The only round I scored even in the fight.

I'd need to rewatch it, but I felt it was pretty even at the time. Khan's work was much more eye-catching. Maidana looked exhausted.

they both did. was a great fight which is why i want to see it again. dont think we will see that level of excitment again in a Khan fight.

its fight of the year no doubt. any fight of the year should have a rematch.
