I don't know the history but I assume Wlad got into the fight game following his big brother. If it wasn't for that, I don't think we would have seen Wlad in the ring. Just my guess. It is that calm calculation that sets them apart. I remember someone posting a few fights ago that Vitaly was old and past it because he was breathing through his mouth. When I finally got to see the fight I just saw a Vitaly that was so relaxed his mouth was hanging open. I just don't see them as all that similar. Manny has turned Wlad into a very proficient boxer. Vitaly goes out to put on a beating. My take on it anyhow.

Adamek/Haye would be closer than you think. If I had to put money on the warrior or the business man in this fight, my money would go on the warrior. Vitaly would END David Haye. He may want to hurt his other opponents but he wouldn't care if he killed Haye.

Luf, that means a lot from a poster of your caliber. I have not seen the fight yet (because i have lost interest in the heavies . . . even though i like adamek and respect big bro. Before tonight I had him 25-30 all time with little bro 20-25. If his performance is as great as you say i might have him leap frog his little bro all together. Each fight and year i am gaining more respect for the bros . . . the sad part is the limit level of competition today.

While i thought Adamek is a very talented fighter i was worried with his training, his game plan, and his ability to adjust. Both Haye and Adamek are great athletes they could not adjust their styles to take advantage of the holes in the Kbros game (from what I understand from your posting the older bro has tightened up his game even more). This not only comes from training (training gyms with a lot "old school knowledge") but also being more active in the ring, each decade fighters are fighting less and less and this is having dramatic impact on the end result. Knowledge that is second nature to fighters like Bhop and Toney is totally alien o the fighters of today. To make matters even worse the best trainer in the division is in the corner of Wlad!

With the addition of adamek and Haye the talent level of the division has increased but the skill level still leaves a lot to be desired.

Kudos to Vitali in what sounds to be another solid performance!

Luf, I used to think so, too. I am not so sure about that anymore, though. Honestly, Haye does have impressive athleticism and may have the impetus to utilize such if he feels he can win. I think he knows that Adamek has a better chin and decent (though not great) boxing skills, though. This may manifest itself in a well-timed or a lack-of-care-if-you-hit-me-just-so-I-can-get-one-off-too series of exchanges, making Haye hesitant.

Haye's power is highly vaunted, and I know Adamek was hurt in his fight with Vitali several times. Against Haye, though, I feel Adamek would show signs of his iron chin again (though of course some erosion may have occurred tonight). Adamek likes to fight for respect, and versus Vitali, there is no shame in losing. With his 'warrior' mentality, though, and a lesser size variance, Adamek would apply particular emphasis against the bombastic, spastic, self-hyping Briton.

I might be giving too much weight to 'intangibles', and ones which I perceive which might not be the way they exist. This is my perception, though. I also just don't see Haye having that "I need to make a statement if I return to boxing (post Wladimir)" kind of mentality. I don't. I think he either sincerely never believed he could beat Wladimir and only showed up for the payday, or he did truly have that unwarranted degree of self confidence and has been perhaps severely damaged since.

Watch a little bit more boxing. The fact that Vitali proved he is a true great because he beat Adamek is an indicator of your limited boxing knowledge :huh or maybe you had to much Stella. It's been fun getting under your skin :D:lol:

It truly was a great showcase from vitali in every aspect.

He threw more, threw faster, was more accurate, more powerful, better defensively, clearly the ring general, better variety of punches.

He completely dominated every facet of the fight imo.

It has to be considered that adamek took a terrible beating tonight whereas haye escaped his fight with wlad relatively unharmed.

Adamek has been through a few wars now and although he never stopped trying I get a sense he mentally gave up after round 4. Will he ever be the same? I seriously doubt it.

Its interesting you touched on a lot of the points that i saw as major flaws in his game. It sounds like he has become a more complete fighter . . . for once I am kinda looking forward to watching a heavyweight fight. That may be the greatest complement i can make! lol

He proved nothing, doesn't change my opinion however.

Time will tell how he'll be remembered, however tonight, I had a sense he was something special and I hadn't felt that since 04.

To overcome another style at age 40 is pretty special.

It does make me laugh that you think you got under my skin; child i've watched a night of boxing, back to back episodes of scrubs, downed a fair few stella and I have a fiancee about to walk through the door after a girls night out, and I will smash. You aren't even a ripple on the puddle that forms on the **** of my shoe.

BTW, I was not impressed with either wlad or haye in their fight. The stock of both dropped considerably

I see it as a close but Haye really doesn't like to fight. In spite of being more physically talented than Adamek. Gorel would be in Haye's face taking him out of his comfort zone.

That's exactly how I felt; he beat an overweight arreola and that's it for the last 2 years. I was convinced he would have aged too much tonight.

He hasn't looked this good post comeback imo. The opponent was prime and in great shape. I don't see any viable excuses considering adamek was at worst number 4 in the division.

    Very impressive performance imo.
