I honestly beleve that Barrera is going to win. As a fan I have been planing on rooting for Barrera in a rematch vs Pacquiao even before the rematch was made. However sence the first fight Pacquaio has become at least in my opion the second best boxer in the world (Mayweather is #1). Barrera sence the first fight has tappered off a bit. Before the first fight he was top 3 pound for pound. I still have him in the top 10 but his best days are in the past. If Pacquaio is #2 P4P and Barrera is not #1 why would I think Barrera is going to win? First of all I do not beleve that Pacquaio is taking the fight lightly. I am aware of the distractions that he faces. For one thing I think they might be exgerrated. Also when any boxer or athlete reaches a certan level of celberity there are going to be distractions. The great ones work through them. My reason for picking Barrera is that he has shown his abbility and willeness to adapat his style. The second is intuition. Not long after the upcoming fight was made I went from hopefull to confedent that Barrera will win. The third reason is I beleve Barrera has one last great fight in him. I have nothing agianst Pacquaio. I beleve he will go on to have an exlent boxing carrear. However I beleve that Barrera will be the victor in the re-match.
It's a tough prediction to make for the smart fans because they know that Barrera's motivation has increased 10 fold and a proper game plan has been put in place. A fighter of Barrera's caliber doesn't get destroyed the same way twice in a row by any fighter. Pacquiao will not smoke Barrera in the rematch...saying that I still favor Pacquiao.
I am a huge Barrera fan and I pray that he somehow wins this Saturday. My heart tells me that Barrera has one last great performance left in him and I keep thinking about how motivated he is to avenge his worst loss and how Pacquiao seems to not be 100% focused. But as a "smart fan" of boxing, I have to admit that I cannot see almost any way that Barrera could win this. Amazingly, after all this years, MAB could still be looked at as an elite fighter as was shown in the Marquez match, but now he's up against a fighter with a nightmare style for him in his prime. Even if Barrera outboxes him, his stamina will not let him do it for long. It will be impossible for Barrera to deal with Pacquiao for 12 rounds, especially since Manny has crazy stamina, doesn't get frustrated when he's outboxed, and maintains his aggression throughout the entire fight. The main thing I'm worried about is Barrera getting seriously hurt here. If he loses, I want him to get stopped after outboxing Pacquiao for the first few rounds rather than see him get dominated and punished for the full fight. But after saying all that, Barrera will UD Pacquiao. Please. BTW, another thing that sucks is that if MAB somehow wins, his win will be discredited by many who say that Pacquiao wasn't focused at all.
