So I know this division is less than glamorous, but does anyone have any comments on my timeline? Any better claimants than those listed? Alfred Cole has a good shout from 93-95 but other than that it seems quite solid to me.
I'm going through division by division to get a grander persepctive on my beloved sport's history. So far i've done HW, CW, LHW and SMW. i know the inbetweeners don't hold much relevance in some eyes, but they are integral today so I like to appreciate where they came from :good
Fair enough. There was talk about creating a cruiserweight division in Jeffries era, because Jeffries was too big.
yeah in these inbetweeners there's been instances of early titles but I think until the division is in full flow, there's little point recognising any champion (i.e. LWW in the 30's etc)
It is going to get interesting as you go down, and the weight limits change so that the middleweights for example are actually closer to the junior middleweight imits. It makes things hard. And gets very confusing. One has to wonder how long it will be before we see a junior cruiserweight division and a super cruiserweight division.
I'm just gonna start the LMW from it's recognised continuation. Early doors, as you say, the MW division had a lower limit.
