damn addie thats exactly what i was going to say....

For the thread starter, im curious as to how you even put that fight on your list? I dont know if people have forgotten, or people just havnt seen the fight or what.... but they were practically trading rounds until 6th or so, in which hoya dominated the next two or three rounds, then vargas won the 9th,

In fact, going INTO the 10th round lederman had it 86-85... hardly a domination.

also, Feroz gave Oscar some of the worst rounds of his career up to that point,

    - Foreman "hes out of his element" "hes taking a lot of shots and thats not good, now we know why he wanted the 10oz gloves"

    - Lampley "Oscar de la hoya taking more punishment in the first 5 rounds of this fight, then hes taken in the first 5 rounds of any fight! blooding dripping from his nose, and vargas ripping him with shots against the ropes"

Just because the fight had a spectacular finish, people tend to forget and blow it up into this one sided fight that it wasnt.... it was a seesaw battle and one of the best 154lb fights youll ever see, but hardly worthy of being on a top 10 best dominating performances of a fighter in the last almost 10 years...

    :good

Yes, i would say vargas was not the same fighter... regardless of the knockdown.

Vargas vs shibata and rivera are painfully obvious to anyone who had followed vargas throughout his career and amature days that he was not the same fighter, in FACT... it wasnt just rivera that hurt vargas, vargas was also hurt by shibata (spelling?) and wobbled in THEIR fight if im not mistaken. The same vargas that had never been hurt or down in his entire amature and pro career up till the tito fight, and shibata was a former SPARRING PARTNER.

Both fights were made into slug outs they never would have been if it were vargas from 98' and 99'.

well considering he was the undefeated ibf smw champion at the time coming off a KO BLITZKRIEG of wins over the likes of vanderpool (who took prime hopkins the distance in a tough fight) or rubin wiliams (who drew with antwun echols) etc id say he was yes,the emphasis is on WAS their!!

your confusing the lacy of today with lacy pre 2006!!

    tool.

Sorry but Calzaghe vs Lacy has no business on there... we all know that Lacy was NEVER elite. Calzaghe just outclassed a B level fighter at best

I know you have calzaghe already but i'm more impress with the way he beat kessler than lacy. Kessler to me is elite so that win was very impressive.
