Honestly your being totally unrealistic if Pep Saddler Sanchez Armstrong are not in your top 5.

Abe Attell at # 1 is laughable when you consider Jim Driscoll shut him out 10 rounds to 0.

Petey Sarron, Baby Arizmendi (who also beat him twice), and Midget Wolgast are Armstrong's notable victories at Featherweight. That doesn't warrant inclusion in my list by the criteria I'm using.

How is Sandy Saddler overrated? he was the tommy hearns of the division. Saddler was a freak of nature physically and had outstanding durability toughness heart late round power to go along with Physical Tools. Saddler also had an outstanding Jab, he was very clever at fighting in his range, He had fast hands, high workrate, and I dont even need to go into his power. Saddler is a nightmare for most feathers in history h2h.

In terms of accomplishments he dominated the late 1940s-1950s featherweight era, beat a past his prime but still great Willie Pep. I highly doubt if any feather in history could knockout Willie Pep the way Saddler did in the first fight past his prime or not. He beat many highly rated featherweight contenders during his titme, defended his title multiple times, and past his prime stopped ATG flash elorde in a classic.

To tell you the truth Suzie I really have not seen any film of Pep that suggests he would beat Pedroza that easy if at all.

Eusebio at his best was a handful to say the least.

There was a time I think Pedroza would have probably beaten a greenish Sanchez ...looking at how both dealed with their opponents in 80-81..Ford being the common one..I think he is a big chance.

Outside of his wins over a past it Pep and Elorde (who won their first fight only to lose the rematch on a cut in a bout he was up big in), he just doesn't have the resume to compete with the other fighters listed, most of whom fought in a stacked era and consistently took on the best opposition.

I'm basing his ranking more off his accomplishments than his ability (as is the only way a Featherweight list can be done IMO, there are too many fighters lacking in footage to suggest otherwise). I personally think he'd stop Henry Armstrong, so I have little qualms about his ability, at least against the right opponent. Otherwise he lacked the boxing skills and versatility to be favored over a variety of great FW's IMO. Hardly a Tommy Hearns type outside of his physical characteristics. Their styles were polar opposites.

I guess you could say it stood out, considering it was the only punch outside of the occasional straight right that he'd ever even throw from a distance. Pretty much all of his work was done on the inside.

I'd favor the better out-boxers and versatile stand-up stylists over him. He was just too awkward and limited on the outside, unbalanced as well because of his lanky frame and appendages. That said, I wouldn't favor any pressure fighter or puncher over him.

I explained the Elorde fight, not much of an accomplishment, IMO. He did beat quite a few good contenders, post-Pep I he went on a nice little streak barring the Pep rematch where he dominated a solid list of them. Outside of that, he was somewhat inconsistent in his career, with scattered losses against good to mediocre fighters.

Overrated more in a sense that people rate him mostly on his wins over Pep, without even thinking of the other possibilties for a Featherweight list. It really is one of the deepest divisions historically, and one of the most difficult to rate. Assuming Saddler as a top 2-3 Featherweight without consideration is overrating him, IMO.

He also beat Chalkey Wright and Mike Belloise.

Besides, given that Arizmendi and Wolgast are HOFers, and Sarron whupped a HOFer to win his share of the title, is that really so bad?

Alright guys, I'll be out for a bit to blow down a fat ass blunt, and then I'll be back to continute the many arguments I've for some reason felt it necessary to start.

Chalky Wright seems to get a little disrespect. The man was a first ball HOF featherweight champion who recorded over 100 wins...I suspect lack of film leads to people underrating him. I think Herb Goldman rates Chalky Wright # 24 featherweight of all time.

I wouldn't put Alexis Argeullo in the top 10, he was a featherweight as a kid. I consider him more of a 130 fighter.

its somewhere on Cyberboxing. Herb Goldman actually rates Alexis Arguello as his # 1 featherweight
