But, while that loss can't be entirely discounted, it still occurred at bantamweight, not featherweight, and at a point when El Alcaran wasn't nearly the fighter that was to become in later years.
Don't forget Sanchez was the much more powerful more polished two fisted puncher of the two. Sanchez far superior punching skills are going to expose Pedroza's limitations on the inside. Pedroza got away with alot against good fighters, but the greats like sanchez would not be befuddled by his antics.
Right, because Pedroza never accelerated in the later rounds throughout the course of his title reign. And, of course, a fighter whose cool under pressure was one of his greatest traits is going to automatically crumble the moment Sanchez decides to move forward. I see. Put into simple terms, the edge that Sanchez possesses in terms of punching power and speed isn't going to be enough to overwhelm a fighter who had the better defense, and who would be raking him over the coals on the inside with an attack that while truly filthy, would be something that Sanchez never had to contend with throughout the course of his reign. Maybe Sanchez wins. Maybe he doesn't. But either way, it's not a walk in the park, and if you don't believe me, then perhaps you should check out some of Pedroza's better performances (like what he did to Patrick Ford- a fighter who gave Sanchez fits only a few months earlier.)
It's a nice win for Alfonso...but it would have been a hell of lot more impressive had he faced the prime, featherweight version of Pedroza and done the same thing.
I give MAB the edge over Morrales because not only was he the first to beat Morrales(should have got the nod in 1st fight), but because MAB also defeated the undefeated Featherweight champion Naseem Hamed, a fight he was a big underdog in.
Sanchez had the edge in punching power, but he was hardly a one punch wrecking ball. He generally wore his opponents down and stopped them through attrition, and that's unlikely to happen when faced with a fighter who got stronger as the fight went on, and who was far from limited on the inside.:good
I hear you there.... but the fight you refer to between EM & MAB was at 122lbs... Morales beat his ass in the 126lb fight which is the one that should matter for this thread + Barrera was ass raped by Pacquiao while still in his prime at FWT. Nobody seriously thinks Morales wouldnt have beat Hamed either, Marco was lucky enough to have got the call. Im not arguing or nothing but those are real facts that must be taken into account. :good
I did score the 2nd fight for Morrales, but I think I had it 115-114...Very close. I thought MAB won the first fight much more clearly than morrales won the 2nd. I wouldnt even count the 2nd Morrales-MAB fight as a robbery. Fact remains MAB took the 0's away from 41-0 Morales and 35-0 Hamed at 126lb, and that is impressive. He also gave a Prime Juan Manuel Marquez a very close fight at 126lb while well past his prime.
Your a joke, Bill. Instead of giving Barrera the credit he deserves for dismantling the undefeated P4P rated Naseem Hamed, let's just say "Morales would have done it too". Look, you want to talk about "real facts"? Morales didn't beat Hamed, Barrera did. This is something history will record. Stop spreading your propaganda regarding the second fight in the trilogy. It was a close fight, not a robbery. Just like the first encounter. Barrera has the two big wins against undefeated Hamed and Morales at 126lb. Erik can't **** with that. You know it, I know it.
