I know many will feel that Hoya-Vargas shouldn't be as high, and that a fight as one-sided as Hopkins-Trinidad shouldn't be there, but I have good reasons for putting them there (which I will explain later). :hey

Please point out any glaring omissions. I'm sure I've missed out a few over ten years of fight action.

I actually had Lennox-Vitali on my shortlist.

I think Corrales v Castillo I is the undisputed no.1. I picked Vasquez v Marquez III due to the amazing comeback by Vasquez over the final third of the fight. Moshipour v Sithchatchawal is interchangeable with Morales v Barrera I, but I gave it the upperhand due to the fact that the official decision in the Morales-Barrera bout left a bad taste in my mouth at the time and took a bit of the high of the fight away for me.

 

I actually feel bad about leaving out the fight between Israel Vasquez and Jhonny Gonzalez. I feel its an underated classic. You could throw it into the top 10 and have no complaints from me.

 

Had those three on my shortlist.

I left out Cotto-Margarito due to the question marks over the fight.

I never thought of Toney-Jirov; that was a great fight.:good

 

I just remember being exhilirated by this fight. As the commentator said at the end "what a great fight, and probably the best one-sided fights you are ever likely to see". Plus the fact that Hopkins was the underdog, but ended up putting on such a clinic. And also there was the fact that Trinidad never gave up; after he connected with a shot you thought "oh here we go, Felix will take over from here", but Bernard never let him. Trinidad was even standing at the end ready to go again, the poor guy never even realised he was done. Technically wise Hopkins was almost punch perfect that night. Plus it was a "BIG" fight, between two of the top operators in the world of boxing at the time, and it delivered for me.

To be fair though I thought that Hopkins-Tarver was a classic; I have a strange taste in fights. As I said earlier, I wouldn't mind throwing Vasquez-Gonzalez in there as a replacement.

 

Again, on my shortlist.
