1 Muhammad Ali 2 George Foreman 3 Joe Frazier 4 Ken Norton 5 Jimmy Young 6 Larry Holmes ** 7 Jerry Quarry 8 Ron Lyle 9 Earnie Shavers 10 Joe Bugner * ** Some eyebrows may be raised as to why I place all time great Holmes as low as number six. Well, resume and achievement play a big part here. Larry did n't really figure on the scene until 1978. I'd rank him in my top 5,easily,when it comes to ALL TIME rankings. * With Bugner,he was the first name that came to mind. There could be one or two others who'd fill number ten position.
i'd have holmes at number 4 for the 70's, otherwise its a beltin list of a rich decade for heavyweights.well done steve:good:good
Great list! I thought Quarry might have edged Holmes as far as their 70's winning resumes, but upon further review I was wrong. :good
Oscar Bonavena would probably make my top 10 of the 70s. Above Bugner and Shavers among those already listed. And above Middleton. Good list though ! :good
Bonavena definitely over Bugner and maybe Shavers too. Other than that the exact order that i would have.
It's cool... Homer's career didn't fully blossom until the 80s...... Holmes was basically nobody until he beat Shavers in '78.... Holmes was a late 70s and early 80s cat.... MR.BILL:hat
Prett solid list and agree about the difficulty over the #10 spot, it just looks awful Bugner being there (as would any list, not entitled 'Best Impersonation of a Statue'). I think John Tate (for his 70s work) deserves a higher rating than Bugner here.
