    Liston was way too green in 1955 to beat Marciano imo.

    Liston was not waiting for ten years for a title shot(Like myth would have). He became a contender in 58. And got his shot in in 62. 4 years. Other contenders waited longer than Liston did for a title shot(Archie Moore, and others come to mind,) And others like Wills or Langford could sit at number 1 forever and never get a sniff at a fight with the champion in the ring.
