1. Jack Dempsey 2. Joe Louis 3. Lennox Lewis 4. Muhammad Ali 5. Rocky Marciano 6. Joe Frazier 7. Sonny Liston 8. Jack Johnson 9. Evander Holyfield 10. John L. Sullivan I know people will disagree with this but I feel this is the most accurate list that is capable of being put together. Discuss.

All time lists are subjective in a sport with 120 years of history (and that's just counting modern gloved Boxing). As long as you researched & watched the fighters (if footage is available) you ranked there isn't a whole lot to argue about for me. I personally have Dempsey in the lower half of top 10 but you are in good company with a whole host of Boxing observers who watched Dempsey live. More interesting to me is your inclusion of John L at # 10, rarely see him in any top 10 list these days. I haven't researched his career to be honest, have to get to it first before I can make an informed judgement. Mine is: 1) Ali 2) Louis 3) Lewis 4) Holmes 5) Marciano 6) Dempsey 7) Foreman 8) Johnson 9) Frazier 10) Liston
Yes Sullivan was absolutely devastating and was champ for 10 years taking on everyone bar Jackson. Dempsey deserves his spot. Foreman and to a lesser extent Holmes are rated way too high nowadays. Foreman gets way too much credit for his lucky punch against Moorer after being dominated for 10 rounds. Surely people couldn't rank him so high based on his inconsistent first career either.
Actually Holmes should be ranked around Holyfield and Sullivan, and Foreman should be no where near the top 10. He is more in the Riddick Bowe category for me. Anyone who argues different is a troll.
1. Liston 2. Louis 3. Ali 4. Marciano 5. Johnson 6. Dempsey 7. Holmes 8. Tunney 9. Jeffries 10. Charles .

Contrarian to the point of being only that. The resume of Ali and Dempsey are so far apart in quality that Dempsey would have to look far better on film/head to head ability, and who looks that much better than Ali?
what is the obsession with looks? The prettiest fighter doesn't always mean the best one or the most effective. How many people on here have even been in a ring before?
To my eye Ali looks like **** dropping his hands, never bodypunching, moving straight back with chin in the air and not sitting down on his punches.
