my bad my bad i just checked some of my memoires i keep in my file storage. it was the FIRST ross fight that most though canzoneri won. my mistake, ross deserved the 2nd fight. I actually have a newspaper report from boxrec member gave to me about canzoneri winning the 10 round ross fight.

:huh I mentioned him earlier. Another one who accomplished hardly anything aside from one big win at LW, though he looked to be at his best at LW to me.

I thought on my card, Ross took Canzi out of his game plan, Ross dominated Tony base on the film I have. I had it something like ten-4-1 draw for Ross.

Leonard is my no 1 .Although Blackburn met many great fighters ,he didnt beat many top lightweights ,so its hard to really get a handle on him.I would put Joe Brown or George Lavigne at no 10. Top 4

    Leonard
    Gans
    Williams
    Duran

    Mine -

    1. Duran
    2. Leonard
    3. Gans
    4. Whitaker - (i know the resume wasnt the very best at 135, but i realy like his h2h abiliity, looked great and dominant)
    5. Ortiz (just edges Williams imo)
    6. Williams
    7. Mosley (this will anger some, but i like him here)
    8. Brown
    9. Buchannan
    10. Ambers

My top 6 are my only real 'set in stone guys', although i like Mosley and Buchannan as underrated 135ers. Ambers could be another, just realy filling that space there. Could be Wolgast, Jack Montgommery etc., i would most likely put Castillo there, but i may receive too much criticism! Great lightweight he has been though.

PS- please dont slaughter my list because of Mosley!

Mayweather dominated 130 cleaning the division out before beating the number 1 at 135 twice, cementing the first win. Castillo outside of Mayweather was the best lightweight from 2000-2005. Mayweather also dominated the next best lightweight of that period in Corrales.

In Armstrongs day 130 and 135 were the same division so this needs to be accepted, especially when 2 of the 130lbers Mayweather beat went on to be lightweight champions and Hernandez was linear at 130.

Bare in mind usually fighters are given kudos for their performance at higher weights. Ie Duran/Armstrong in these ratings

Leonard is too low. I think Ross should rate. Williams @ #2?

You must be yipped out on spaghetti to think someone with 4 fights, who showed no dominance or longevity, and arguably lost to a B+ level fighter, is a top 10 LW in such a stacked division.

You were also the one who started a thread talking Mayweather down, talking about how unimpressive you found him and how a prime Oscar would've beaten him easily(big surprise from you, even if I agree with it). Don't let your hate for Whitaker cloud your judgement. Your knowledge of history and facts are good, but your analytical abilities and opinions of those facts? Not so much.

Sweet Pea, i agree with you on the general idea of your post, historically and legacy-wise, Mayweather doesnt belong in this thread.

However, i really dont think that any version of Oscar beats Floyd, never imo.

DLH DID sort of make it a close fight in the early rounds. Maybe had DLH been ten years younger, with a lot of steam in him, he may beat Mayweather?? Perhaps.

That resoning and thought is reasonable, however i do think that that is the only argument that i'd be willing to entertain in terms of giving Oscar a chance here.

Its just, imo, Oscar only ever looked like a world-beater (in a fight he won) when in a bout against someone he was superior to, in terms of skill, attributes, size, etc. This isnt the case here. Also, i understand Oscar wasnt at his best in the fight. But if one looks deeper into this one, some interesting facts are (you're probably already very aware but) Oscar did well early by using his jab and applying pressure behind it in a clever way. Mayweather then adjusted and took over the fight and won a decision. What is there to say he couldnt simply adjust against a prime Oscar who is having some success against him? The 'a past prime Oscar did well, so a prime Oscar would do better' argument just doesnt hold water here imo.

    Castillo a B + level fighter? :patsch

Yes I did talk mayweather down he deserved it. He barely got by a rusted far past his prime oscar. Perhaps this shows just how good oscar was in his prime.

I dont hate whitaker. As a southpaw amatuer boxer, I love whitaker. He rates # 4th on my all time lightweight list. I simply hate his fans antics, especially the bias nuthuggers who rate him # 1 head to head all time.

That reminds me of an old saying If you can't be good, at least be interesting and when people are tired of you being interesting, you better be good.

I could point out many flaws of your Analytical skills in your posts, especially considering your advanced age. But I choose not too. I frankly do not care. All I care about is how I do in the ring and on the mat. Cause im crazy, and i dont ****in lose.
