one more year for this prediction, and my credibility as an analyst, to be confirmed. the list hasnt changed much, but there are new faces i may not be familiar with at the moment, so im open to suggestions. i am replacing estrada with srisaket sor rungvisai .
Unfortunately it's not happening with his new trainer from a post USSR country. There were almost no such thing as inside boxing in soviet amaterish boxing so he can’t teach Kovalev that, for sure.
Wow, literally 3 of my all time favorite right there. Wilder isn't one of them but he's ko every single one of them and past current hw..
Pretty solid list, but I wonder if Hurd couldn't slot into the mix now, based on the way recent fights have unfolded.
hw will always be the most significant division and the only division to many viewers, anthony is the king at the moment and his fights draw very big numbers which lends to the pomp and circumstance surrounding a big boxing match. i do understand why you would question my decision given my criteria, but joshua vs wilder would be a spectacle regardless of skill level.
hurd and mungia are 2 i seriously considered in this latest update because of the guaranteed action and possibility of exciting fights for them, but those fights appear to be in the distant future. if they stay undefeated for another year, i believe they will edge out some of the current slots.
Good list for a newbie or a kid learning the sport. GGG , a newbie is going to see a fighter that doesn't like backin up. Introduced to a solid boxer with KO Power is the potential for an exciting bout For me, I'd take Deontay Wilder over Joshua. Because AJ has skills as well as power, so he can opt to boxing his way to a victory. His last fight is a perfect example IMO of losing that newbie. As Tyson Fury said about DW, he's dangerous up till the last second of a fight. Shawn Porter again same criteria, introduce a newbie with fan-friendly style, nonstop, burrell down & plow straight ahead just throwing. By then a new fan can begin to appreciate what all the skilled fighters on your list do that IMO requires the knowledge of watching for more than a couple of years.
i agree, there are many fighters who are more fun to watch that a new fan would probably find more exciting, but its a bit of a balancing act to try and list exciting fighters who are relevant historically, meaning they will be around long enough for a young fan to follow an extended career. also, a fighters place in the dispute for title of "best in the world", is important. it helps the uninformed to examine why certain fighters are considered the best even before they have proven it beyond doubt.
My Top 20 Must Watch List. In no particular order. Srisaket Sor Rungvisai Mickey Roman Naoya Inoue Joe Smith Jr. Sergey Kovalev Brian Carlos Castano Oleksandr Usyk Vasyl Lomachenko Josh Taylor Lewis Ritson Sam Eggington Jaime Munguia Billy Joe Saunders Gennady Golovkin Regis Prograis Deontay Wilder Sho Kimura Callum Johnson Kerman Lejarraga Marlon Tapales
Close... he'd definitely make the Top 30. He has two kinds of matches, one sided squash jobs (which can gt boring) or good back and forth scraps, but in order to truly shine in the latter he needs a willing dance partner, like Porky Medina or Gavril.
Manny Pacquiao Gennady Golovkin Srisaket Sor Rungvisai Naoya Inoue Manny Pacquiao Vasyl Lomachenko Dmitry Bivol Manny Pacquiao Juan Francisco Estrada Manny Pacquiao
