In general a good list. How do u rate P4P fighters accurateley ? So many intangibles to compare each fighters merits on a man to man basis. Different weights, different era's,
    different opponents..
But I cannot see putting Ray Robinson [best fighter I saw ringside], over a Harry Greb, who went out of his WEIGHT CLASS time and again, licking truly great lightheavies, many ,many times, and NEVER avoiding anyone, any color, anytime, and anywhere, whilst
Ray Robinson, beautiful to behold, only ventured once in the LH class against a Joey Maxim
who did not punch as hard as MANY middleweights, while Ray avoided an Archie Moore, Ezzard Charles, Harold Johnson, Charley Burley, Lloyd Marshall etc. How can you pick Robinson over a man who went out of his way to court adventure and danger, against
all the best big boys of his talent rich time, and licking them all.???
Finally, not to be redundant, but I am certain that Harry Greb in his prime would have whipped EVERYONE of Ray Robinson's OPPONENT'S, while I am positive Robinson ,never
could have beaten the strong LHs as Tunney, Gibbons, Loughran, Dillon, Miske,Gunboat Smith, etc. This is my honest reason to pick the amazing Harry Greb, ahead of Ray Robinson
P4P, because Greb gave away tons of weight to bigger HOFamers and licked them in a 300 bout career...Where am I wrong.!!!
P.S. I saw Willie Pep in his prime, but Benny Leonard was as good a classical boxer as Pep
with dynamite in both hands to boot. Pep never challenged the great lightweight Ike Williams to a fight. Willie knew better...Leonard P4P was a better all around fighter than
Pep in my opinion...And I am convinced that Henry Armstrong at featherweight would have penetrated Pep's defense, and beaten Willie at 126 pounds. Henry was a terror at 126 pounds....Thanks for your video...

    Burton,

Not a bad list... All mentioned are great.... I do gringe on the number order of a few names listed, but its a good list nonetheless...

    :yep:bbb:deal

    MR.BILL:hat

    My List:

    1. SRR
    2. Ali
    3. Duran
    4. SRL
    5. Pep
    6. Gans
    7. Armstrong
    8. J. Johnson
    9. Charles
    10. Manolo Pacquiao (Don't Laugh.)

    MR.BILL:hat

    NOTE:

I love Harold Greb and Bobby Fitz, but I struggle to place them in the ATG list of top-10....

I do realize Sammy Langford was great, but I have only seen rough cuts of his fights, and he was already peaked by then as well...

I also cannot decide to either put Ben Leonard in Joe Gans' spot or keep Gans there.... I'm keeping Gans there....

Bill, i respect you, even though you have a blind spot, when you don't even include a Harry Greb amongst the best P4P fighters of alltime. Like having an elephant in the room, and not noticing the elephant. Virtually all the great fighters that this 160 express Greb, fought, called him the greatest fighter they ever fought. But you don't include him in your top ten ,regardless of his amazing record that will NEVER be duplicated AGAIN. I am baffled. What more could have this 160 pounder accomplished to satisfy you ? Maybe
fighting completely blind in both orbs, instead of the ONE eye Greb fought with. Yes B, what more can Greb have done ???
And not to include Ezzard Charles in your top 10,while putting Ali as No 2 is
ludicrous. I would bet my fortune that were the Ezzard Charles who whipped Archie Moore many times, fought Ali, even weight ,Ezzard would have gone through Ali, like a knife through butter. That is what P4P means. Who would win at even weights, and Ezzard was a murderous puncher as a 175 pounder.
Mull it over B. Take care...

    Burton,

I'd still favor "Robby, Monzon & Hagler" to beat Greb at 160 pounds... Again, aside from overall resumes, styles make fights... Robinson of '51, Monzon of '71 & Hagler of '81 were the best at 160 that I ever saw fight before on film, besides perhaps a 1994 Roy Jones...

To this day I have never seen Harold Greb fight a single round on film... All the Greb hoopla is second hand info to me...

Ezzard Charles is well admired here in the classic section and he was great, but he still finished rather ugly after being ruined by Marciano in '54 when a still mere age 33... To say he was better or greater than Ali is reaching... Charles was more traditional for sure, but not close to being greater.... And, as for size, Charles couldn't absorb the pain like Ali could.... Not even close there...

I find Greb and Fitz overrated, and I find Charles rated about right...

Mr B. You say you have never seen Harry Greb fight a single round on film.
Well B, when a hurricane strikes, you don't have to observe the event to determine it's severity. You observe it's destructive aftermath. Same with Greb or Gans or Fitz,or any great fighter, you observe their record. That tells it all. For example,B watch a Mickey Walker destroy British Champion Tommy Milligan in London. Walker was great in this ko,and the British boxing experts who saw this fight, and the Ray Robinson/Randy turpin fights picked Walker to whip Robinson, were they to have met. And yes, a past peak Harry Greb with about 290 fights in his career gave Mickey Walker a sound beating, one year before Harry Greb died. He also whipped a 12 pound heavier Gene Tunney
also impressive on film, a Tommy Loughran, impressive on film, a Tommy Gibbons who looked mighty impressive flattening Jack Bloomfield in London, also seen on film. They were great fighters, who this one eyed cyclone
beat, and Robinson at almost 6ft tall, couldn't duplicate this buzz-saw Harry Greb...Cheers...

    Burton,

In terms of Greb's ability, I do rate him in the top-5 of all-time great middleweight champs / fighters.... However, I'm not sure he's truly top-10 on the P-4-P list...

    NOTE:

BUT! Hells Bells, I do overrate SRL a great deal, and also have the balls to place Manolo Pacquiao on my top-10 all-time great list of P-4-P fighters...

I'm sure many senior citizens rate Greb way up there.. I can accept and deal with that, too...
