I think you need to read my post again.

    :deal

I was reffering to Hopkins but will answer on McCallum anyways. He never actually beat Toney, he beat a very green Collins(who wasnt anything special anyways, past prime Kalambay. Most notable wins IMo are Curry & Jackson.

Lets compare that to the likes of Morales: Pacquiao(prime), MAB(prime). On top of that he has alot of good wins comparable to the Graham, Kalule's & Watsons. Junior Jones, Zaragoza, McCullough, Kelley, Chi, Chavez.

Pretty close in resume but I think Morales 2 wins over 2 ATG's in their prime seals it for him. Had McCallum managed Toney, he would have had a case.

I would make a case for DLH but im tired.

He did beat Toney in their second fight, and arguably their first fight. Watch them.

He very clearly has a case as it is. Only a guy like Jones would be comparable to the fighters you mentioned on McCallum's resume also. The others are not in the same league, including Zaragoza, who was shot to pieces by ther time of the fight, and was still neck and neck with Morales until the body shot stoppage. Embarassing performance, really brings into question his ability at his best, against the ATG's anyway.

McCallum's resume is clearly better than any of them, I stand by that. He was also a better fighter.

I don´t make any lists and I don´t think that were 25 fighters that deserve to be mentioned great - remember not all Hof are great.
The following guys I think were great in the last 25 years - in no order:
    Whitaker
    Chavez
    RJJ
    Hopkins
    Holy
    Lewis
    PBF
    Tyson
    Hearns
    DLH
    Pacman
    MAB
    Morales
    Trinidad
    Calzahge
    Toney

Thought about including Duran but I think it´s not enough.

I don't really understand why you included that sentence about greatness and HOF- where did I use the word great?? They are my top 25 fighters 1983-2008, that's all.

Well, I included it to show that I think the other fighters are HoF-worthy. Imo Dariusz Michaelchewski deserves to be in this list. His run at lhw was at least as good as RJJ and he held a cw belt.

I thought our resident Calzaghe fanboy had been quiet for some time.

Gamboa would school the lot of them :deal

    As would the Hayematrix :deal

    As would Carl Froch :deal

I will disagree, but not start a big fight about it, as I am a huge Pac fan, big Barrera fan, and I like Morales and DLH too.

They may, and I say may, have better resumes than Hopkins, but remember as I said in the start of the thread, I was judging each man on 4 aspects of their career, not just resume:

rated on a combination of NATURAL ABILITY, NAMES ON THE RESUME, ACHIEVEMENTS SUCH AS TITLES WON, and ASSESSMENT OF PEAK PERFORMANCES.

I think the criticism of Hopkins's resume I read on this forum is very unfair- again, not something I can really be bothered debating as I have argued about it many times, and I still think Hopkins's resume is underrated by many.

His top 4 wins are very good.

    - Coming off 2 defeats and at age 40+, jumping 2 weight divisions and dominating the linear LHW champion Antonio Tarver was a special achievement IMO.

    - Becoming the 1st man in 8 years to beat 'the best defence in boxing' Winky Wright

    - Becoming the 1st man to beat Glen Johnson 32-0 (and the only man ever to stop Johnson to this day)

    - And the jewel in the crown: dominating and stopping p4p#2 40-0(34) HOFer Felix Trinidad. IMO the best win in boxing since Jones-Toney in '94

I also give Hopkins great credit for performing with great skill against Calzaghe, when only age and stamina issues prevented him from a great victory. And he is also the only man ever to stop Oscar De La Hoya, though admittedly that is not one of his top wins due to the size advantage. But he beat anyone and everyone else at middleweight in his time there, til he was too old to compete with younger guys for stamina and workrate anymore.

I admit his resume itself isn't as good as Pacquiao's or De La Hoya's or Barrera's, but I think it is about equal with Morales's and PBF's, and is better than Calzaghe's or Mosley's.

Who would you have him above that I have him below? Genuine question- not trying to start one of our usual boring Calzaghe clashes.
