what do you prefer? a slick boxer outboxing his opponants with skill speed and technique like floyed, dirrell, amir

or someone like manny and gamboa who are aggresive combination punchers who over whelm fighters with volume and speed.

or maybe a katsidis, diaz or cotto type who come forward and brawl with you, work the body and land punches coming forward.

1)Cotto - maybe it's because he's my favorite fighter, but I find him as entertaining to watch as anyone, I think it might actually be because of his vulnerabilities.
2)Floyd - the dude is magical in the ring. His defensive ability and slickness in the ring always leaves me in awe. It's funny because when I first started becoming a boxing fan I though he was boring as **** but now I appreciate how amazing he is.
3)Gamboa - he's such a freakish athlete. He's just so fast and explosive. What makes his fights more entertaining is that sometimes he can be reckless and get caught which makes the fights more interesting.
4)Pac - his combination punching is what I find most amazing. When he lets his hands go he'll throw a combo so fast with punches from so many angles that it's almost as if he has four arms.
5)JMM - he's an amazingly skilled boxer who is willing to trade and go to war when he has to.

Most of these list all include Pac and JMM. ITs crazy how Arum can justify those 2 not fighting and gives us Mosley instead who i dont think anyone has on their list.

Anyone else hope this flops so Arum start putting together the fights we actually want???

Im hoping the Cotto and Pac PPVs flop so he takes losses on both.

I only really regard Floyd or Pac matches as essential viewing these days. I'm happy to catch replays and such of other fights, but when I watch Floyd or Pac I know I'm going to see offensive or defensive mastery. That being said, I haven't been particularly excited about their last few fights. Bloated Marquez? Old man Shane? Margacheato? Clottey?

The last Floyd fight I was relatively excited about was the Hatton match, and the last Pacman fight I was geared up for was the one with Cotto. When you see an A grade talent, the most exciting thing is to see them tested, to see their opposition bring out the best in them -- when they fight underdogs it's all just a bit half-hearted.

I suppose I make sure to watch Khan fights too, but that's mainly because I've been following his career since the Olympics, so I'm curious to see how he develops. He's definitely been improved since hooking up with Roach, but his defence needs work...and then more work...and then even more work.

I don't really care about seeing any other active fighter at the moment. I may start watching more of Donaire's matches, though -- from what little I've seen, I like his style and abilities in the ring. I'll keep an eye on him.

No you are being a bigot by looking down on fans of boxer-punchers. I'm merley saying there is room for both - you don't need to like both styles equally from an aethestic point of view, but you should at least respect and understand it enough that it can still be somewhat pleasing to watch.

While my post wasn't directed at you, hot dog's comment suggested boxing is only about being "slick", yet some of the greatest and most popular boxers were not considered slick at all.

And if you were a trainer, not all boxers can be trained to be "slick", and if they were trained that way it may take away their strengths. Would Tyson be as effective if he was trained to fight like Dirrell or Hagler trained to fight like Khan?

    ******ed comment. :patsch

Of course there is not one "correct" style of boxing. That's what makes boxing so deep and fascinating. Every style is as correct and valid as another, it's about how each individual man uses their attributes within this style that creates great boxing and great boxers.

To say that Julio Cesar Chavez, George Foreman, Roberto Duran, Sandy Saddler, Harry Greb, Rocky Marciano, etc etc etc, do not fight "correctly" is the moronic comment of someone who does not understand boxing.

yeah i agree. i can definatly apreciate pressure fighters. its an art form and no easier to do than counter punching. but for me personally id rather watch a dirrell combination and dirrell dodging a punch than katsidis brawling and throwing numerous hooks. thats just my opinion. not saying its gospel!

you shoud watch some old frazier fights, and his body work against ali in the thrilla, just as impressive as slick countering.
