I like Holmes and Wlad, Bruno had a good jab as well. Hell, it was Holmes' jab that made Howard Cosell quit announcing boxing events!
FrankinDallas. You hanging out in some Dallas tavern, watching some NCAA BBall tourney, drinking cold beer, and checking out the hot women there???
I think the top of your list is very good, but I think you're ordering in the lower half (and some of your selections) differ from my views. I'd also add that I think Golota at his best had a better jab than many of those mentioned.
The prime Mike Tyson had vastly underrated jab (when he used) he outjabbed the 6'5" runner Tony Tucker.
Michael Moorer his jab was largely forgotten. https://www.washingtonpost.com/arch...tle/cf28c4b0-dec0-45b4-906a-be9dc4ce46d8/?utm
Wlad is ranked too high. Not Top 5 in my book. Vitali should not be there at all. Louis and Foreman should be on the list instead. A case can also be made for Thomas
Agreed. A lot of the younger generation who never saw him fight don't realize that he had one of the best left jabs of all time. All they see him as is a name on other men's records.
He came close to becoming the first guy to beat Larry Holmes but lost a hard fought 15 rounds decision in a 1985 title challenge. It was almost like the aging Holmes was fighting a younger version of himself but unfortunately that was about as good as it got for him.
Really? Top 5 for Thomas? Thomas had a short prime. By the time he was 29, he was all down hill. A good left, and a mediocre right is what I remember. I'll have to see him at his best to judge. Not opposed to having him in the top 15, of if needed I'll just make the list top 20
His jab was great, He actually completely shut tyson down for a couple of rounds after taking a frightful beating in the first round. Tyson has nothing but praise for him in his book and even said he started mistrusting his handlers because cus would not have allowed him to fight thomas yet at his stage of development. Tyson was the only man ever to knock him down and that took a dozen punch barrage. The weaver fight was a great performance from thomas. He had a lot of demons like heroin addiction from a young age that killed his career. He does a lot of good things for urban youth now
I mentioned Thomas's name a few pages back but didn't get much of a response so it's nice to see that there are others here afterall, that haven't forgotten him.
Wlad has that straight up stiff Olympic European style we all saw back in the 70's. No imagination, take no chances, heartless style.
