Dempsey's reign is over Louis's?

 

Hard to see, unless you consider historical impact.

 

Louis had more of impact comapred to Dempsey in my opinion. The more people see how black athletes behave today, the more and more Joe get appreciated:deal

 

I dont really see how Frazier can possibly rank ahead of Foreman who is unranked.

The ommission of Lewis but inclusion of Holyfield is probably arguable but very surprising.

I am guessing that the exclussion of Jeffries and Johnson and co means that Dempsey is the cut off point for consideration.

I struggled with my top three, and Tyson and Louis.

I think Chris Arreola could have cleaned out the division prior to Louis, H2H in their primes. Just too much size, power and the evolution of boxing skills over the last century.

P.S. I know I am in trouble over this one, LOL. But that's the way I see it.

 

I think Adamek would have cleaned out the division before Louis as well. He would have been a pretty big heavyweight back then, and his skills are way higher if you look at the old videos and compare them to Adamek's fights on video.

I guess I just like Vitali better than Wlad. I think if they ever fought "at their primes", big brother would win. But it's really a toss-up, like I said, between Lewis, Wlad and Vitali for numbers 1,2 and 3 on my list.

 

From what ive read he had no choice, he was told if he spoke to much or made problems like jack johnson had he would be in trouble, i may be wrong here mind, but i saw it on some documentry ages ago, no way did america want another noisy in your face black man. Am i right here at all ?

 

yes you are. and the documentry you speak of was the HBO special that aired back in 07 or 08.

he couldnt gloat over opponents yes. However if you looked at Joe's mellow attitude it just didnt seem like him to be obnoxious. I dont hink he was the puppet that some people have made hom out to be in that documentry. Because of people saying he was ap uppet most in the black community called him a "uncle tom" in the 60's and 70's. Most notably Ali called him that!
