i haved a lot of things going about my heid about this;a lot of questions like why?

but i feel i want to write something to honour the Bold Darren Sutherland,so here goes

When Darren turned profesional i had only seen him fight amatuer (as im sure most of the readers would have) and seen him lift Bronze at the olympics. Some people are eclisped by the Gold of degale, but to me Sutherlands decorum and manner in which he conducted himself ,outshone any gold medal .

The thing that to me,Made Sutherland stick out was the fact that when he turned profesional ,instead of starting on four rounders Sutherland started on six rounders .his to me showed his intentions and while the fights are (predictabbly) short at this stage of his career it was clear to see that Sutherland had a style that would keep folk entertained ,and that he could go onto join the list of great super middleweights we have seen on these shores over the last few years

also to add to this belief, there was once a former olympian medalist who started out on six rounders aswell and his name was sugar ray leonard ;but make of that what you will ...

so now we are faced with the death of a promising boxer and true gent .The only contact i had with the guy was just occasional chat on facebook and in the forums lbut that alone shows you the measure of the guy .A profesional sportsman who is happy to give his spare time to speak to total strangers and give them the time of day

i hope this wee bit helps you in the same way it has hlped me to spill the beans, and would love to hear what some people are thinking

I first saw him fighting on Sky Sports, and he was technically the best out of the Olympic Boxer's we had from 2008.

I liked his jab, and his body punches.

He reminded me of Miguel Cotto slightly.....

    Shame like, a real shame.

    But why did ths happen..?

I was deeply saddend to hear the news that the life of Darren Sutherland came to a sudden end. He was just 27 years old. His boxing career began at the tender age of 8 years old and he went on to have an outstanding amateur career that culminated in winning a bronze medal for Ireland at the 2009 Olympic games.

Inside the ring "The Dazzler" acheived national stardom. He had the lot, speed, skill, grace, stanima in abundance. Most of all he was brave. These attributes are what made many including myself predict he would be a world champion in years to come.

Outside the ring it seems he suffered from personal issues that cut his career short. In the ring he gave us excitment. The response his death has evoked in us all is part effection but most of all respect.

My thoughts and preys go out to the entire Sutherland family and all those that truly loved him.

My we tribute .Copied this off my bebo

"Strange tae one of the things that always inspired me about Sutherland was he was the same age as me and just starting in the pro game plus the best prospect out all the olympians , best suited to the pros . Coincidence tae he died on my birthday, just turned 27 as well . R.I.P champ , could have been an Irish great , will never be forgotten . TIpped to be up there with the likes of Steve Collins. The boxing world mourns."

Sometimes things happen in life which make us question Why did this happen ? ...and thats the case of Darren Sutherland a truly likeable person who was very humble in his abilities .... one legacy for me Darren left was for all his talent he didnt need to be a gobshite he was a gentleman ... a very humble Irishman who can be proud of what he achieved .

I saw him box in Wigan back in March and from what i saw he seemed very grounded and focused in his chosen career .. but always had a smile and there wasnt any heirs n graces with the lad - what you saw was what he was ..

Guess when the dust settles Darrens boxing career will fade into the memories and be forgotten by many but for me I will always remember the lad and to be honest wonder what might have been in his career .... its a damn shame what happened and who knows what goes on behind closed doors but wherever Darren is now lets hope hes sparring a few rounds with Arturo Gatti ... now that would be a fight worth watching !

    RIP Darren ....
