Jofre, Olivares, Manuel Ortiz, Panama Al Brown and Fighting Harada all have superior resumes to that of zarate.

Fitz for his accomplishment of winning titles in 3 original weight classes, while weighing around 167 lbs. He was considered one of the best MW's, LHW's, and HW's of his day, which is unheard of. He KO'd Nonpareil Jack Dempsey at MW, beat Corbett and Sharkey at HW.

Also, while his boxrec record is only at around 55 wins or so, his exact record is unknown, many estimating he had around 300 or so fights.

Wilde, though with a lesser resume than others, did it against much bigger opposition. He was a Flyweight beating up Lightweight size fighters, and was known as one of the greatest P4P punchers in the history of boxing. I guess it's more of a thing of rating him based on performance and dominance over resume. I do think he's a bit overrated though, as many have him in theit top 10's and such, which I disagree with.

That's your opinion but certainly not mine. My post "with all things considered" includes my own head to head views not just resume. Never the less Zarate has a sterling record. Each to their own, but IMO Zarate could be in the top 50.

Oh and commendations on leaving Pryor out, he often finds his way onto lists like this. He's 50 - 100 IMO.

Bloody good list tho mate. Nearly all the right names there and mostly very solid placings.

Off a superficial scan, I think it has most of the essentials right. For criticisms, I think Ray Leonard is perhaps a bit high, Carlos Monzon is a little too low, Julio Cesar Chavez is probably too low, Lennox Lewis much too high (he ranks ahead of Floyd Mayweather, De La Hoya, Marciano, Frazier, Holmes, Ricardo Lopez, etc., pound-for-pound?!?!), and Marciano much too low.

I like a high ranking for Holyfield in P4P lists too.

While I am not a massive fan of Holy when considered purely as a HW, his efforts relative to his size against some giants, and his previous stellar reign as a Cruiser makes him worthy of careful consideration.

IMO he also rates exceptionally well for mental fortitude...

I put resumes at the top of my criteria, and Lewis beat most of the big names of a very good Heavyweight era, and every man he ever faced. Also, as I stated in another thread, the Heavyweights are the only openweight class, so I disagree when people choose to rank them lower. Head to head in a P4P sense? Perhaps, but not resume wise.
