I have to get this off my chest because it is completely getting on my tits.

Kevin Johnson is one of those typical ten a penny fighters who I like to describe as spoilers. The guy made Vitali look bad due to his very good defense and head movement, which made Vitali only connect with grazing punches most of the time, but how many bloody times did you see him opening up the action?

FFS, VK looked 'bad' because KJ made him miss... (thats it) any bloody boxer can make you miss (but not many can make you pay thereafter) - VK could have just stood in the centre of the ring and faught tall and 'made him miss' by not allowing him inside, for example. Instead he chose to press the action!!

Dont get me wrong I do appreciate 'slick' boxing blablabla but to say Vitali could have even done better 'as the Heavyweight champ' than he did, is incorrect to me!

haha idk but i dont see how you can do better against someone who is that efficient defensively and yet so dormant offensively, other than doing what Vitali did= applying the ONLY ****ing pressure existant in the fight, volume punching, feinting etc. If VK was quicker, that right hand he was tryna land would definately have landed more if it were not due to his speed limitation/disadvantage.

On a lighter note, did anyone watch the sky broadcast??

Those two twats who commentate make me wanna ****ing crush my laptop, they have absolutely no knowledge of boxing and no common sense at the best of times. :bart

    :good Any views lads

i agree with you...styles make fights and unfortunately, Vitali just endured his version of "Bonecrusher" Smith. An opponent who wasn't looking for a victory, just looking to end the fight on his feet.

We're a fickle lot of sheep.

I rather doubt I'm ever going to bother watching the fight. I've never bothered to watch KJ tape, so him trading turns with VK to stink up Switzerland is time I'd rather use clipping my toenails or reading the usage terms of a credit card.

Vitali is an adaptive guy. I've yet to see his comeback version show the conditioning that HBO keeps swearing he has, but his fight with Fat Nipple showed that he can (slowly, mind you) change tactics and spoil a guy who only has a Plan A. It's worrying that he couldn't do that against a boxer who shouldn't be anywhere near his class, threw in the single digits a round and it doesn't sound like KJ didn't change up at all... twelve rounds should be more than long enough for someone who insists he's world-class to force an out-classed foe to change tactics.

Also, the really tepid reaction from the legion of Vitali nuthuggers tells me to stay well away from watching something that makes Valuev look like a speed demon.
