I'm going to avoid the uber obvious choices. Donaire v Rigo, Floyd v Sergio etc. Pirog v Proksa/Golovkin winner. Seeing as Pirog was originally penciled in to fight Golovkin, this is the most natural fight to be made. Would be a fantastic way to start the year in January. Whoever wins this fight surely could not be overlooked any longer by Martinez. Bernard Hopkins v Nathan Cleverly Cleverly has been hiding out in the U.K making poor defences since Frank Wárren got him a handy world title. Both guys have something to prove albeit in entirely different aspects. Cleverly needs to show the people he is genuine world class whilst B-Hop will want to show the boxing world that there's life in the old dog yet. Wilfredo Vazquez Jr v Abner Mares I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume Vazquez Jr beats the very shop worn Marquez. Who wouldn't want another Mexico v Puerto Rico war? Vazquez Jr has shown himself to be a formidable super bantamweight while Mares, although held in higher esteem is untested at the weight. I think this is a compelling fight with both guys happy to have a tear up. Bring it on! What less obvious fights would you like to see occur in the next half year and who do you think would win?
Canelo against the winner of Martinez/JCC JR since that is going to be a fast fight and Joselito may last more rounds than Junior. Hopkins against the winner of Cloud/Pascal cause by one side it is Pascal who wanted another fight with Hop and Cloud is just a throwback, forget about Campillo and look at the way this guy goes for it, excellent fight for B'Nard it would be. Pirog travelling to Germany and stealing it from Sturm, believe it or not. Manny winning a shutout or even stopping late Bradley. Alexander schooling Bailey and either him or Guerrero fighting Floyd. Broner moving uo and fighting for dear life with DeMarco. The Filipino Flash and El Chacal to get it on at the promotions table at least. Just watching either Gamboa or Guzman comeback at any weight from 130 to 147... Vitali retiring for good and Wlad and Haye rematching for the WBC and undisputed HWT Championship. Holyfield to fight yet another fight and pay his debts.
I'm going for the obvious mentions: Floyd vs Manny Vitali vs Haye Froch vs Kessler II EDIT: Just saw you were asking for less obvious fights. How about Matthyse vs Rios? Matthyse would be favourite.
I want to see: Mercito Gesta vs. Ruslan Provodnikov (hell of an action fight, both iron-chinned and can bang, winner should get title shot). Chris John vs. Orlando Salido (John underestimates the old warrior and gets upset by a late and surprising KO hopefully) Gary Russell Jr vs. Mikey Garcia (two young, talented lions going at it)
Absolutely! It moved a lot of members and produced serious and less serious threads. But it is hard to happen since Chad already has his name in his resumé and ward is gonna beat him, B'Nard can always beat the man who beat the man like he beat Kelly who beat Taylor but...
Good suggestions guys. Rios v Mathysse would be a war. I'd love to see Mathysse knock that piece of **** out. Joyi v Ioka is a great fight. Winner faces Roman Gonzalez? :hey Russell Jr v Garcia is a cracking fight. I'd take Jr to take a decision. He's a great talent.
I'd still love to see Brandon Rios - Juan Manuel Marquez. Especially having just watched the GP highlight video of Marquez - Diaz...
