'Mystery man' Mustafa Ameen has admitted he did get involved with the scorecards during Khan's controversial defeat by Peterson but claims he was simply helping to correct mistakes.

Yet Ameen - who denies any wrongdoing - has admitted today he did get involved with WBA supervisor Michael Welsh.

"I noticed one error and a subsequent error. I assisted him in correcting it without touching anything,"

"I happened to look down, I believe at the end of the third round, I looked down and I saw Mr Welsh's score," said Ameen.

"I saw, I believe, it could have been nine, nine and nine - which is 27 all day long. There was an error. It might have been 26 or 28 but he was off by a point or two.

"I happened to look down and I said 'Michael, nine times three is 27'. He said 'oh my God' and corrected himself.

I must admit,at the weekend I was finally thinking Khan had something to go on,but reading that this morning,if it's true of course,it sounds like a perfectly reasonable explanation.

Unless he is an employee of the athletic commision in MD he has no business being involved on the scoring ..None what so ever ..And if the judges can't score a fight correctly neither do they !!

Any evidence he passed the score along to Peterson's team. Of course simple gestures would all that would be needed. Hard to prove. That is why he shouldn't have even had that type of access.

Im still not taking his word for it. Its not like he's going to volunteer to say something bad. Also, who would have 9-9-9 after 3 rounds when it was 10-8 Khan after 1 with the knockdown and if I remember right, Peterson clearly won the 3rd round on everyone's cards.

If not then it still shouldve been an 8 for Peterson after 1 so IDK if I believe his story. Either that or Maybe the total number was right and the guy had 9 on accident. Maybe he had three 9's and had the total score of 26 but that was because he meant to have 8-9-9. Therefore maybe he corrected it but he did it in the wrong way. Maybe they made the score 27 when really it was supposed to be 26 as the judge had it and the 9 was wrong.

Either way you dont put your nose in it. If you do then dont say that it should be 27. Just say that its not adding up right and tell him he should go back to the judge to check what he meant exactly. He's also trying to talk like he barely remembers what it was exactly but you know that he knows what he corrected. That tells you right there its a lil fishy

The timing seem strange. Going by the footage Ameen only seemed to get involved after the 6th round when Khan was well ahead then in the 7th Cooper takes off a point for pushing.

At the end of the 11th Ameen knew that Peterson was 1pt up on 2 cards & only needed to draw the last round to win. After Khan started well & was winning the round Cooper takes off another point.

Take away the bogus KD in the first, and the slightly over-the-top points deductions and I think it's fair to say almost 90% would have the fight a draw.

Now, of those 90%, how many thought Khan should have been penalized for headlocking, pushing down and pushing off?:think

It was a fair decision IMO, but Khan is still the better fighter....he simply underestimated Peterson, like about 90% of the boxing fans here on ESB.
