Fighters didn't average 12lbs of weight gain from weigh in to fight night, in the same day weigh in era, that will never change. I think you know that.

 

We know that you love the stats.

But the issue with these stats, is that guys like Gatti and Stallone are in there.

I don’t want to disrespect these guys, as they were all warriors who put on the gloves.

However, Floyd could have 25 HOF fighters on his resume. But it won’t ever change the fact that he never fought a prime ATG, or any guy on the level of the Fab Four.

1. Canelo wasn’t in his prime at the time.

2. Manny doesn’t rank higher than all of the Fab Four.

3. Even if Manny did rank higher than all of them, the specific version of Manny who Floyd fought, wasn’t as great as the versions of Leonard, Hearns and Hagler who Duran fought.

 

Canelo win needs to be viewed the way it was viewed at the time, a fight against a young and raw talent. Otherwise is revisionism at its worst. Floyd was the favorite for a reason.
The Corrales win is a better win than Canelo.
