Correct answer, whether non-Americans want to hear it or not. American sports is football, basketball and baseball. A great, big athlete would be a fool to go into boxing, risk his health and his future for relatively little money against great odds, when he can be a major celebrity playing basketball and never even suffer a cut, let alone a concussion.

They did have a lot more athletic clubs back in the day which had boxing teams.

Inre: bold--That's kind of off. Sure, a lot of the athletes in the NFL etc. wouldn't hack it in boxing, but to dismiss them all is silly and rather ignorant.

There are many paths to top athletes all over the world. The US is not the only country with major sports leagues.
There isn't space in those three sports for all the top athletes in the USA to be able to play at the highest level and earn millions. There are great athletes left to give other sports a try. Alos, just because someone is great at basketball doesn't mean they would be good at another sport, some are, most aren't.

I never dismissed them all, I said most wouldn't make it.

My post wasn't meant as a shot at anything you said in yours.

I believe there are many large-sized athletes (in extraordinary physical condition) with even better attribute sets than the Klits. If these large athletes were pursuing boxing we would view the Klits much differently. As it is, the Klits are always bigger than their opposition and if they are not, the opposition is a "C" level athlete who couldn't make it in the NFL/NBA/MLB. The Klits are good athletes, with great size, and good conditioning. A good big man always beats a good small man. The Klits are not extraordinary large athletes. They only appear to be because of the comp they are facing. The comp is poor because all of the talented big men are in other sports. Without their size advantage, it can be argued that they might not be all that different than Povetkin, Iggy, and Chag in terms of skill and boxing prowess.

There's really no way of knowing that, but at least you admit that the majority of American talent is not getting into boxing, which leads to a smaller talent pool, which leads to fewer elite fighters. It is what it is.

its not even about that.. its not about usa vs ________

the entire hw division is bad.... it shouldn't be ballyhooed by anyone... regardless of who win's and who loses.. eddie chambers could be the #1 guy and i would still say the division sucked

i agree with that.... wlad and vit arent complete and utter garbage... but the rest of the guys are suspect.... wlad and vit are above average.... but pretty much just that... but yeah the lack of skills kills the division

yo but check this out right.....

in the 60s - 70s basketball & football contracts were so skimpy that players would have jobs during the off season...

basically in the mid 80's-early 90's nba nfl & mlb contracts took the **** off.... and it because so lucrative that people NEEDED to try it...

lottery nba pick salary = 15 mil over 3 years
nba league minimum = 500,000 $ per year
nba veteran minimum = 1.5 mil per year (just to sit on the bench)
    even a 10 day contract = 50,000 + $

boxing abosolutely cannot compete with that

vit is less of a one trick pony than wlad
but tyson definitely wasnt a 1 trick pony.. you know that..

all im saying is the entire division is not great... you have a lot of c level fighters & 2 B level fighters... in the past there's like 1 or 2 A level guys then some b's then the rest are c's

the division sucks on all accounts... no matter where your from

Boxing is unique to all other sports in that you have to be able to take a big punch. If you don't understand that concept than I have no help for you.

Tye Fields is huge at 7 feet tall. He can't take a punch for ****. What makes you certain that Shaq or Jordan can take a punch from a pro boxer? Wishful thinking?

In the last ten years I remember a couple of gyms in my area. One down at the beach that has been turned into a Karate or aome kind of mma gym. Another in Portsmouth that I've heard went the same route. We've got the rec center but there's no trainers there just equipment.

Even a local club that use to show young local pro boxers is shut down.

What makes you so certain they can't?

Yes even some colleges had programs.

To say that all football, basketball, baseball, etc. would be good is stupid. But to think that a small percentage of those athletes learned to box at a young age. That they wouldn't be very talented is equally if not more stupid.

Was Brewster a bum? Last I heard he was a former WBO champion who knocked out Golota faster than Lewis did. Is Lewis a bum too?

**** off with this drivel, you aren't worthy to wear a Paul " The Punisher" avatar with dumbass logic like that.
