A couple at hand: 1. Tyson scared everybody and when you fought back you could beat him. This one makes me laugh a lot cause when infact Razor Rudduck fought Mike hard in both fights(and probably would of Ko'ed any heavyweight out there with some of the punches he hit mike with) and Tyson still broke him up and wired his jaw in 3 places. The so called experts use this one all the time, especially Teddy Atlas who's very bias towards Tyson, when in reality Kevin Rooney is the person to ask the questions but they always use Atlas, kind of strange ain't it.

    2. Tyson can't go past 5 rounds and after that he's done. This is true in his later career when he didn't have the disipline anymore and the lack of the right trainers. But in his prime, he proved he could go the distance 4 times and did it rather easy when he fought Green and put on a masterful display of boxing in that fight. He also proved he could carry his power late in fights when he stopped Tyrell Biggs and Jose Ribalta. Rooney was conditioning and training Tyson to go 15 round fights.

    3. Tyson didn't do good against Taller fighters. It is true he didn't stop a lot of the taller fighters he fought but he didn't need to when in fact he dominated from round 1 and on. The taller fighters actually had more trouble than him, cause they had to punch down at him and it's hard to hit a short person who gets down real low the way mike did with the speed and defense he had, so the target was never there. A lot of the taller fighters had to go in survival mode and clutch him all day and it's hard to score knockouts when your trying to punch around a guy with long arms whos tieing you up all night. Tyson proved his boxing ablity that he had based on that to win easy uninamous decisions against the taller fighters he fought.

    4. All Tyson had was power but no boxing skills at all. Well he sure looked like he had good boxing skills when he out jabbed Tony Tucker and Tyrell biggs. 2 athletic heavyweights with good speed. Tyson had a quick accurate jab in his prime and would offset a taller fighters rhythem with his jab and timing. Other skills he had was great headmovement which made it virtually impossible for good boxers to hit him and great combination punching. He also had good body punching, which he broke Tyrell biggs down with body punching. Tyson was also a good counter puncher. It didn't look that way cause he was the agressor all the time but he would counter you after he slipped an uppercut. Tyson showed good counters in the holmes fight after he slipped holmes punch in 3rd round I believe it was.

    5. Back Tyson up like Hoylfield did and you can beat Tyson. Larry Holmes tried that and than some and it didn't work. Holyfield fought a faded Tyson, that's why that tactic work because Tyson wasn't using his boxing skills anymore that he had back than. The Tyson from the holyfield fight would lose to a lot of the fighters he fought in the 80's because he was more one dimensional in "96".

Anymore you guys care to share?

I believe that Tyson had difficulty with taller fighters, but usually overcame this and won. And also, I think that if you put pressure on Tyson, you could in fact do well against him, maybe even beat him. It's just like Steward said before the Lewis fight... "you have to fight Mike Tyson." I agree with this, I think that a lot of fighters could have done better against him had they been less afraid of his power and been more aggressive towards him.

And a lot of guys who would like to see him beat it.

I'd probably buy the PPV if it wasn't overly priced.

Tony Tubbs tried that and handled himself pretty well until Tyson made him apoligize. Yea it would help but if Lewis Tried that stagey to Tyson back than he would get knocked out. Bonecrusher also tried it in the first round but when he realized he couldn't hit mike he knew he would have to bring more to the table and his Boxing skills wasn't good enough. That's why he held on cause he would gotten Ko'ed eventually.

:think Good analysis. Im not saying that it would work with everybody, or that it would work at all, Im just saying that it would help. If I were training a big strong guy to fight Tyson, I would definitely advise him to be aggressive (not factoring in all of the other details of course such as my fighter's defense, etc.).

I agree, but at the end of the day it's gonna come down to your overall boxing skills and boxing brain and Tyson had a lot of boxing skills back than. It would have to be a great Tactician and he also better be able to take a good punch cause Tyson is gonna hit you eventually.
