    Round 6

Adámek is laying the left jab down on Markić in tomahawk fashion, looking to follow up with the right cross but Markić is squirming off the center-line or dropping a level at every turn, in any event denying him a target. Markić is standing pat as the crowd eggs him on with a slow-building and ultimately frenetic clap & chant, ignoring them, staying the course in applying his slow & steady game plan. Very little output from him. Adámek meanwhile is roping out the left jab, brushing Markić's cheek with it whenever he can, and measuring with that right hoisted up high & read. Markić again ends a round battering Adámek's guard to push him into the ropes and then doing a bit of damage on the rib cage. As to whether enough to steal a round in which he spent well over two minutes doing nothing offensively - questionable.

    10-9 Adámek, close

    58-56 Adámek

    Round 7

Markić is pushing his jab up into Adámek's brow from directly in front of him, staying in his chest and irritating him with a persistent stinging right delivered with varying speed and hardness into the same deliberately chosen spot on the solar plexus, causing Adámek's guard to waver unconsciously downward. Not many punches from Adámek, who is floating his gloves out in readiness to parry and displaying a slight twitch of a jab-feint like a peacock's feather display meant to intimidate predators.

    10-9 Markić

    67-66 Adámek

Correction: 10 rounds. I'm not sure whether it was demoted, or scheduled that way in the first place and mis-reported.

In the history of the WBO European light heavyweight title, it has been 50-50 (between 10- and 12-round scheduled lengths) :nusenuse:

At times Markic honestly looks like the b-side fighter in terms of skill level. He’s extremely basic and has been pretty unimpressive. Hopefully Adamek gets a fair chance on the cards

    Round 8

Adámek is keeping Markić out with the left jab fairly effectively. Neither man is taking any big risks, despite the crowd's increasingly less optimistic vocal entreaties. Markić is taking a faltering run in, over and over, halted by the jab or chopped behind the head with a right - never restraining himself enough to stay beyond Adámek's reach nor committing enough to get inside where he can rough him up or pick up where he left off with that work on the weakened spot in his midsection. Hacking three-piece by Adámek in close-quarters just before the bell.

    10-9 Adámek

    77-75 Adámek

The fact that I have it even remotely close (and I'm quite a big Jumbo fan-boy) means that Adámek has absolutely ZERO chance, in Mostar, on a card promoted by local hero Markić. :sisi1 :ohno

Good point. In this sleep deprived state that I’m in, I forgot about the probable chance of home cooking but yeah Markic has this locked up in that case

    Round 9

Markić is lurching in now, looking to fake Adámek out with a basic flick of his wrist, meant to suggest a jab, before falling in with an overhand right that doesn't come near the intended recipient. Adámek is boxing tall, flinging out the left jab like a shuriken from afar, occasionally torquing his way in to dig a right hand on the stomach but without surrendering his advantage in height, chin held aloft, protected by his left glove once retracted. Markić is burrowing his way in with his head bowed, and Adámek is warned for chopping against the back of it.

    10-9 Adámek

    87-84 Adámek

    Round 10

Markic runs out to ring center; Adámek is meeting him there, not willing to give the now quite boisterous and vociferous crowd a chance to get into the contest. Adámek is keeping his palms tightly pinned together in front of his throat, dealing out jabs like a purveyor of cards in a casino, with a near-contemptuously dismissive "away" motion. Endless sorties by Markić, going & getting him nowhere, unable to penetrate the moat created by Adamek's jab. A few glancing touches on the body are the prize for which Markić needs settle.

    10-9 Adámek, somewhat close

    97-93 Adámek

Seems like it was either split or a majority decision, so at least one of the judges wasn’t a total asshat

    Official cards:

    one judge for Markić
second judge inaudible...didn't hear Adámek's name, but didn't hear Markić's either...
    third judge...

decision of some kind (probably split, given the dramatic pauses and saying Markić's name after the first scorecard) for Emil.

They're playing The Final Countdown by Europe, perhaps unintentionally reinforcing the insouciant carnival atmosphere of boxing (especially boxing that reaches a judges' verdict) in a provincial European backwater..

Considering how Adamek got blasted out by Elsaev last time, this feels like a small win that he was able to rebound and pretty much beat (in a fair world) someone he wasn’t supposed to.

    Markić won a trophy.

Sheesh. If they handed out trophies for winning three rounds across the long haul in title fights, Conor McGregor* would have a nice conversation-starter as centerpiece in his living room to show for his foray into boxing. :sisi1

(*in case y'all - as I'm sure at least some of y'all must've - forgot, the "WBC Money Diamond" belt was on the line in his pro debut against Mayweather)
