That two weight classes you're talking about, is the same 3-4 pounds on fight night that occured back in 2008.

(Cue your theory about JMM only weighing 140+ on fight nights over the past 3-4 years because he's been trying to match Pac on fight nights).

 

i really dunno why there are too many dumb people in this forum to say the weight will affect JMM.

 

This is a mismatch.


JMM does not even belong in the 140 weight division, much more the welterweights.

Regardless of whether it's a LW, JWW, or a WW fight, Marquez will always come in at his usual mid 140's on fight night. But now, he has the chance to reach that fight night weight more efficiently.

And I agree. There is only so far you can go to change a fighter or any athlete in any sport, so pac is going to be the same fundamental fighter, so Marquez should present exactly the same problems as before.

I am really looking forward to this fight. I can see pac winning but Marquez being able to hold his head high in this fight.

 

I think Marquez will have learnt about himself and his own limits due to the Mayweather fight. He was in unchartered territory and this will stand him in good stead regarding how to get himself in optimum condition around that weight to maximise his performance this time against Pacquiao.

Both fighters have extra mileage now and you could argue that with Manny fighting bigger guys that wear and tear could affect him more so than Marquez. I'm not sure how reliable some of the stuff I have read is, regarding Manny's physical condition, but he took some heavy damage against Cotto and Margarito and ate some leather against Clottey too. Whispers of ear damage in the Cotto fight, rib damage from Margarito, leg cramps against an ageing Mosley and even acid reflux could suggest the Pacman is slowing down a bit.

JMM we know can be effective and negate Pacquiao, he can be the kryptonite to Manny's swashbuckling style by using technical nuance and savvy, and toughing it out when he has to, even picking himself up off the floor and coming back better for it.

I certainly wont rule out Marquez causing Manny similar problems, could it be that he has the style which will simply ALWAYS prove troublesome for Manny and result in close fights between the pair ? Maybe ...

That said however, even considering Pacquiao could be in decline by his standards, and giving Marquez the benefit of the doubt that he can be effective again, I still lean towards Manny getting the stoppage this time and putting the ghost of Marquez past to bed finally, the motivation and the advantages are there for him to excel this time around.

He's proven before he can penetrate the mexicans style and catch him clean, send him to the canvas and my money is on him finishing the job on this occasion. Simply put I feel Manny is more suited at the weight and arguably this affected him at those lower divisions maybe slightly contributing to some of his less stellar performances.

I'm gonna put my neck on the line here and say Pacquiao by KO or TKO before the championship rounds .... I hope Marquez does not suffer any unnecessary damage should he get stopped, hopefully it is over in a flash (not the fight, but the stoppage if there is one) and both guys are o.k :thumbsup

As far as i'am concerned this is going to be one hell of a tough fight for both of them, all this crap about a miss-match!! It's the clash of styles & the weight will actually benifit JMM as he's the counter punching technician & pac ai'nt any faster now he's at WW in comparison to when he & JMM fought at SF.

Pac may have the advantage of power but whether he has the speed to breach JMM defence on a constant basis is a 50/50 issue IMO + Pac can't maintain that constant pressure & momentum he did at the lower weights. DLH/Hatton/Cotto/Margo all went after pac & got battered doing it by pac's stratergy of countering with speed, but JMM will employ what works best for him & thats how he fought in the last 2 times & thats to wait for pac too commit. It worked last time & the onus is on Pac to attempt to breach JMM defence on a constant basis & hope his power has the desired affect but JMM will be waiting for him to lunge foreward so he can counter & he'll be countering a slower version of pac too the one of 3 years ago.

This is a 50/50 fight as far as i'am concerned & i'll not be suprised if it's another SD. Manny's going to get caught & caught plenty & it all depends if JMM gets tagged himself on the counter after he counters pac's attack as thats where JMM may just lose that bit of speed in his reflexes in being able to avoid pac's return fire.

 

I agree with what Nacho says about Pac's boxing skills working in Juan's favor. I think the wild maniac version of Pacman was hell for JMM's amazing boxing brain. But if Manny tries to box he'll be boxing against a master and I can't see him out thinking JMM. He needs to let it all hang out and come at Marquez with guns blazing.

 

This is exactly what I was posting in this forum right before the Marquez-Pac rematch, and 90+% of you clowns thought I was a nut.

For however improved Pac has become since they first met, he can never come close to match Marquez skill and know how.
If Pac is to win he's got to establish his and win through sheer energy, power, and workrate, because he'll never come close to beating Marquez in a game of chess.

 

A lot of JMM fans would be crying if PAC ko's JMM for good. There will be a lot of excuses why JMM lost....there will be little credit from Marquez fans if Pacquio wins even by KO.

It's gonna be an interestng fight until PAC ko's Marquez. If Marquez survives and loses by UD only. I'll be amazed. I will also be surprised if Marquez will not go down at least once for this fight.

 

I'll be here in this very forum whatever happens.....most of you *******s will fall off the face of the earth if its Marquez who gets his hands raised.
