In a perfect world yes. Also in that perfect world the girl in my avatar is rubbing her ass in my face whilst singing "The Wind Beneath My Wings."
I'm a Ricky Burns fan but what had he ever done to deserve a world title shot? Less than Mitchell. Plus its a fight that sells, that makes it a big fight. Thats boxing, deal with it.
Want to see him against the best, ricky wants to fight the best but boxin doesnt allow that. Boxin sucks on a few fronts and a dnt like it
He had the perfect chance with a fight against Broner but Frank didn't want it. Not saying Broner is the best but a win could've put Burns' name out there for pretty much anyone. Beating Katsidis was good, but he's far from the first guy to do that. Right now Burns isn't anywhere near a big enough name worldwide to get any really big fights unfortunately. But if he keeps winning, in 2 or 3 years hopefully something can be made.
He did have the perfect opportunity with Broner....his weight wouldnt allow it....and Frank didnt fancy the gamble. I bet you would have baulked at the thought of him moving up to fight Kats at Lightweight this time last year......as many would of have.......so this 2-3 years scenario......i dont get where your going. This 2-3 years btw.......is this an admission that you expect him to keep on winning ala being top end ? Not having a pop btw....jusaskn. :thumbsup
I can see why they turned away from the Broner fight. Weight may have been an issue, the travelling, the possibility of losing, Frank's options etc. Katsidis was a good fight to make following that. When I say 2 to 3 years, I just think Burns doesn't have anywhere near enough name or status around the world to get any proper big fights anytime soon. Marquez, Rios, Gamboa. Those fights are a long way off and I don't see Frank being willing to risk Burns going to the states to find anyone decent (or even at all). The only way he's going to get a big fight someday is to just keep winning, which given the right fights he may well be able to do.
