Okay my bad on that one, I didn't realise that was one of the scores, that really is shocking. what a great fight of the night. I reckon both fighters are going to be heading up the bill hierarchy.
The only round that Garcia could've possibly won was the last because he was more active than Nam was. Even if 80% of tthe shots he threw didn't connect. I could still see a judge thinking he was the aggressor................. I would still disagree with that judge but I would understand their decision. And no, Garcia dropped a notch or two in my book. Yes he's exciting but he was supposed to win, not get his ass kicked.
I think judges scored all the punches that landed on Nam's hands. If thats the way MMA is score than yea, Garcia won the fight...
I see what you are saying, and I kinda agree. I still think you have to give more points for controlling the top position than escaping the bottom. That is my opinion. However, Like I said before, I can see how you could score the fight for Phan. What I don't see is how it was a robbery... Also, any person that thinks Garcia deserved the decision is on drugs. Hitting hands is not a legit way to win a fight...
Both watching the fight and looking at the stats I think its pretty clear Nam outlanded Garcia in both the 2nd and 3rd while edging the first. The only reasons I see for giving it to Garica are aggresion along and takedowns in the last two rounds, the first of which ended up with Nam on his back and the second of which was escaped from almost instantly. As I said I think it highlights but only how potentially terrible the current criteria can be but just how vague they are and the possibility for bias this creates.
so I watched the fight and think that it was not the horrible robbery everyone makes it out to be. It's the ****ing stupid 10-9 system that sucks. Rounds 1 and 3 were close as hell. Round 2 was dominated by Nam. I still scored it 29-28 for Nam
there was no 30-27 score for Garcia. two 29-28 scores for Garcia, one 30-27 for Nam I think the judging was fine as far as the actual judges. But the scoring system sucks. 2nd round should've been 10-8 or worse.
Thanks great correction there. That score makes a lot more sense. Personally I'm not concerned about the judges who scored the Nam versus Garcia fight, I just thank God some of the people on this forum aren't employed as MMA judges, heaven preserve us.
You are sure ? I remember the first judge card was 29-28 Garcia, the other one 29-28 Pham and the last one I'm pretty sure was 30-27 Garcia ! I've just rechecked on wiki...
The 3rd didnt seem very close to me, Garcia was gassed to hell gettting teed off on for most of it. Seems with alot of MMA judging these days striking actually landing doesnt carry much importance.
