Damn, you're right. Floyd only won 11 world championships not counting the ring. Wikipedia said he does but I don't see it. IBO titles don't count.

Actually, Henry Armstrong held the Lightweight and Welterweight titles simultaneously.

Name off those titles again. I don't see 12.

Also, quite a few guys held lineal titles in several divisions. After Armstrong, however, the orgs made a champ choose which division he was going to be champ in and he had to vacate the other titles.

For example, Michael Spinks was the lineal light heavyweight champ when he beat Larry Holmes for the lineal heavyweight title. But he had to decide which division he was going to remain in. So he dumped the light heavyweight belts not too long after beating Holmes.

Sometime during Mayweather's later career, orgs like the WBC changed their policy and let him keep both, so he could pay them sanctioning fees in both weight classses.

Regardless, Mayweather wasn't the only one.

1 world title in 1940= 4 modern titles, so Ray Robinson captured the welterweight title, plus the middleweight title 4 times, and since there wasn't a junior welterweight title at the time you can pretty much throw in 4 more for that; which would be equivalent to capturing 24 titles today.

Saying that a guy like Floyd has more belts is like saying Bernard Hopkins should hold the record for most title fights, even though he almost never held any more than one belt in a division. Joe Louis defended the full heavyweight title like 25 times.

Most of the posters who were Floyd fans became Golovkin fans. Good to see someone buck that trend :good
