It is sickening to see these posts about Vitali on this site. The guy is aged and has slowed down some. He still dominated a cowardly Johnson every round over 12 rounds. He showed great stamina, he tried to make a fight with a guy that didnt even want to fight, which is very difficult. So, Name me 7 HW's that beat Vitali without issue in the history of the sport. Prime Vitali. not the older 38 yr old Vitali we saw last night.
No, that is a ludicrous statement, the point is to make an argument against him not being ranked in the top 10 heavyweigths h2h ever. I believe he is in the top 10 h2h heavyweights ever. His resume isnt top 10 hw, I admit as much. But, h2h with Vitali in his prime I would like to see someone make a list of people who would convincingly beat him.
No, to make it even more fair, i want 7 heavyweights that would beat vitali when they are both 38 years old. Everyone keeps bringing up tyson, ali, larry holmes, ect.... completely forgetting the fact that vitali is almost 40 and had been riddled with injuries (let alone fighting a guy that came ONLY to not get hit and survive, and people act like that should have somehow = vitali looking even better) exactly who was tyson and ali beating at age 36, 37, and 38? So what 7 heavyweight at 38 years old beats todays vitali, who is 38.....
As ludicrous as people calling him the greatest? There's a lot of heavyweights from the past that were as big as Vitali with a better skill set. Any one of them would have beaten Vitali. Besides that, his face is made of wet tissue paper that falls off in a strong wind.
Guys from your list who would give vitali a fight are Louis, Holmes Ali, but there is doubt that they could beat him. Vitali would easily handle Bowe and that right away excludes Evander. Holmes could win by TKO via cuts, but only via cuts. I concede that on his best day in his prime Lewis is a better h2h fighter. Tyson could KO vitali early, but if the figth went past 4 rounds Vitali would win via TKO. I dont know what to think about Foreman, I think I would favor him over Vitali.
Well, the Lennox Lewis who beat a prime Klitschko at 37 would easily defeat today's version had he fought on a few months longer and reached 38. Beyond that, you have a point, but overall Vitali is a very good, not great HW. I fully respect him though.
Ridiculous arguement and logic. Name me 7x 44 year olds that could beat Bernard Hopkins ? I find it absolutely hillarious that Vitali fanboys are now using the fact that he's 38 as an excuse for him looking slowing down. He's no more worn down than Lennox Lewis was when they fought.
Larry Holmes would have beaten him at 38 and Foreman would have beaten him at 38. 18 -21 year old Mike Tyson would have knocked any version of Vitali senseless.
I knew you would be the type of idiot that say's that. When I say as big, I mean a big heavy weight. Not a 6'2 fat guy who would actually be a light heavyweight if he went to a gym once a week.
I think I'd go along with each of these, Vitali has great power and a first rate chin but in with each of these guys in their prime I think he'd look so stiff and his lack of quality movement would be exposed. How does everyone think a prime Joe Frazier would do? Would the size differential be too great?
