I guess that's a good resume for today's standards but come on, Rivas and Helenius are certified nobodies, he was gifted the Parker fight and Chisora was already past his very unremarkable Peak. The facth that this is a solid resume right now says more about the division then it does Whyte

Depends what you mean by title.

If you mean recognised world title, then there are so many guys ahead of him.

Just of the top of my head, Harry Wills and Sam Mcvea never fought for a full world title, and Brian Nielson only ever fought for an IBO belt and has plenty of decent names.

Joe Frazier had an outstanding run before he became champ too.

Don't understand a lot of the hate Whyte gets, is he the best heavy? No, the fittest? No, the strongest? Nope, same goes for power, chin, speed, technique, and as you say a couple of his wins were close or controversial

But he always comes to fight, loves a tear up and fights anybody, massive respect for Dillian Whyte

    - Sonny Liston beat Zora Folley, Cleveland Williams (twice), Eddie Machen, Nino Valdez, Mike DeJohn, Roy Harris before he fought for the title

    - Joe Louis beat Jack Sharkey, Max Baer, Primo Carnera, Paolino Uzcudun, Bob Pastor, Al Attore

Those are some decent names for a top 15 heavyweight and thats it, nothing special about it. Against rivas, an unproven fighter, and parker, easily beaten by joshua, he barely survived the razor thin fights and was badly staggered in them at some point.the chisora fights were even, a better version of chisora was outclassed twice by fury, the helenius win does nothing to merit a title shot. Whyte is entertaining to watch but he lacks dominant performances and he always looks vulnerable, the one time he stepped up against an unproven joshua he was easily destroyed, nothing suggests things will be different if they fight again, same goes for a fight against fury or wilder.

That is true , although didn't the most recent one get dismissed ? Still doesn't excuse the priors , but in all honesty I think all heavies are on the peds, and failed tests are just more political ***** swinging
I find him an entertaining fighter , I get Delboy vibes aka throwback fighter, maybe he won't always win but he'll give it a good shot , rough and tumble kinda fighter

Plus, I'm probably a bit biased because he's like the antihero to the golden goose AJ (until Fury mania started and outshone both of them) and I get tired of the Eddie Hearn/AJ media machine

I think you may have forgotten Sonny Liston, who was the uncrowned champion for much of his era, fighting the guys that Patterson wouldn't.

By the way, he's not beaten Povetkin yet, and it is not a gimme that he will.

Not a gimme, I believe he will though, I believe he will achieve what Hunter failed to do.
