Nicolino Locche. Remarkable fighter for one who smoked cigarettes between rounds on the odd ocassion. Underrated left hook to the body. He was good against a young Cervantes as well.
He was great against Cervantes, but I like the Fuji fight more for a performance. Great left hook and just impossible to hit cleanly, great feints. Last round of the Cervantes fight [YT]3LEKHMUCh8k&feature=related[/YT]
Yeah, brilliant blocking and slipping, also he covering-up was second to none. He was probably as good as Pep and Whitaker. Arcel said Locche was the best defensive fighter he ever seen. High praise considering the old school fighters he worked with over the years.
I'd probably have to agree with Arcel. Haven't seen prime Pep, and Pernell was more offensive-minded than Locche, but he's definitely right there with both of them for defensive prowess.
