MMH always stayed around 160 because he was a Gym rat. he was to small to move up to 175 easily so he stayed at 160. if there was a 168 he could have easily moved up to that with same day weigh in. Bhop, is a gym rat as well and his walk around weight is not much heavier than his in ring weight. Also i seem to remember both Bhop and Tito came in well under 160, perhaps 157-8. If that is correct bhop would not be much bigger come fight night.

I agree Bhop with his spoiler style would try to make the fight ugly but this is the Marvelous One . . . an old school fighter, who would not fall for and would not be easily neutralized.

not just that night nut always prime for prime.

    Jones at 160 beats him
If Calz could make 160 and be the same fighter he beats him.
Taylor obviously but i will say shockingly, cause i was shocked how bad he made hops look.
GGG only man that would stop him.
NOPE, i am NOT over rating him, he will prove to be the p4p king soon.. and he will prove to look even better and
more dangerous once these "top" fighters accept the beatdown. i truly dont know who these so called top fighters are
that he needs to fight to prove anything. IF Seg honors his word thats such an utter mismatch and will be a early brutal
brutal KO win, then he will whoop someone at 68 then he will shock most of ESB by besting Ward handily. possibly and probable by stoppage
SSR could have a shot. i need more fights of his on tape because with the limited good footage of him he isnt a 10th the god people claim
Hagler would most likely beat him.
    SRL- would have a chance.
    J Toney

thats all i really have off the top of my head. these are for sure winners

Hopkins would have timed and counterpunched Monzon easily.

This subject always comes up, and I'm too lazy to right out a new analysis, so I'll copy what I've been saying.

As I've always said, this is a very close fight between two great, versatile fighters.

Both guys are complete fighters. Hagler was a terrific boxer-puncher with a great jab, good combos, heavy hands, good set of legs, terrific chin, nice parrying skills and head movement, and he could slug it out as well and fight on the inside.

Hopkins is a master of controlling the pace and picking his spots. He knows the angles and knows where to position himself to land good shots and avoid the incoming. Like Hagler, he is versatile. He can box from the outside using the ring, or maul guys up close and "stink it out". He has a big of dirty tricks to frustrate opponents. As proven throughout his career, he is very effective against lefties. He's also a bigger MW than Hagler due to different weigh-in procedures.

Hagler had the heavier hands, superior jab, and was more proven in the slugging/pressure department. Hopkins was a little quicker and slicker, and just has a brilliant fighting brain in there.

No matter how the fight takes place, I see it being very close. I doubt either guy gets stopped. Hopkins is slick and has a sound chin. Hagler's chin was great, and he didn't exactly have a soft body either.

Over the years, Hagler was developed a reputation as a face-first brawler from people who don't watch enough of his fights, but he usually boxed behind his jab and broke guys down over the course of the fight. It'll probably be a pretty tactical fight, and I see Hopkins winning a close decision, with his straight right hand being the key.

:rofl Golovkin is good but until he beats someone you can not pick him to beat one of the best MW ever:patsch
I would pick SRR and Hagler, Hagler very close. Monzon is for me close fight leaning towards Hopkins, i expect to be bashed now but I'm not to sold on Monzon, great fighter no doubt but i would pick Hagler to beat him every time!

Hopkins was still developing in 1993, Jones also, though Hopkins improved more after their fight than Jones did.

I still think Jones beats him in another boring fight.

Tommy Hearns, G-Man McCellan, Julian Jackson, My momma. Tons of other middle weights. Hopkins beating a overrated weak chin welter weight is suppose to be impressive because of?

I love Bhop, but no way he beats Monzon or Hagler on his best night. Even Hearns at 160, which wasn't his best, would still be too much. Jermaine Taylor I think won one and lost one to Hopkins when Bhops was at his best, or at his most complete stage as a fighter.

    The thread should be titled:

Name a fighter at WW that would have beaten Hopkins the night he fought Trinidad

(On a side note Oscar, EDIT...another WW, was out boxing Bernie until that liver shot landed. This is the same Oscar who got a gift in his previous fight against Felix Sturm)

We don't even need to start digging up legends like Carlos Monzon. There are two names on Hopkins resume that already beat him, that would still have beaten him the night he fought the welterweight Trinidad: Taylor and Jones.

    Just to re-iterate

    TRINIDAD WAS A W E L T E R W E I G H T
