Near impossible to tell unless you've seen all of his early fights.

this is the point i made, but the huggers ignored my posts.

it is stupid to assume he won every round of all his fights pre-byrd

Exactly, you cant just list the fights where he started to become known. Surely the best guess would be Tyrone Brunson.

Wasnt one of his early fights in Austria?

EDIT: He won by first round TKO.

kahn also got dropped by rachid drilzaine in 1 of his early fights and for what it's worth i think malignaggi took 2 rounds and kotelnik took 1 or 2 aswell

2 or 3 against Hatton? What fight were you watching?

Why does it have to be accomplished when Vitali is barely accomplished himself. You disqualify Ike from proceedings because he's not 'accomplished', his wins over unbeaten Byrd and Tua are probably better than any of the trash on Vitali's record.

in stopping byrd, he achieved something vitali came nowhere near to doing.

thats the thing as well, not just watching his early fights, but seeing the scorecards of every fight. maybe he hasnt actually lost a round in the early ones, but seeing as i dont know i aint gonna go spouting this **** and start a thread on it.

As long as it is just noted as a novelty, and not used as evidence of greatness, then this thread has a place.

not so, a thread, unless specifically stated, should have some factual basis. the ts is assuming vitali never lost a round before byrd, and we have seen no proof that this is the case.

Byrd, who ducks very low in defense, was a bad style match-up for the 6ft 8 Vitali and he still only managed to win 2 rounds against an injured Vitali. Byrd's defense wouldn't work half as well on smaller boxers who wouldn't have to punch down and could come up with uppercuts and hooks. Tyson would have killed Byrd. In losing to Byrd, Tua showed how limited he was as a boxer.
