74 fights, 73 were 4-6 round fights. Only one was a 10 round fight. Fighter fought in the 1940's-50's.

I shouldn't answer this because when I do, it will most likely be deleted again.

I wrote all the moderators, admi. and others trying to find out why the 2012 Quiz was deleted, and when I asked on another thread, that was also deleted. So I guess someone don't want me or Bukkake on the site.

I don't understand, people use the "F" word and other words like that and they stays on, and when someone took the time to put on a Great quiz together, they delete it, go figure!

Rocky Slater had 1 10 rounder in 74 fights, But check out Davie Flash's record, 74 fights, all 4 & 6 rounders.

THis could be the last time you will hear from me unless we can get an answer as to why, the threads were deleted.

I certainly hope thats not the case. I am continually learning more about past boxers thanks to posters such as yourself and Bukkake.

Henry, I too am perplexed with the deletion of the quiz, and without explanation. It seems some of the most astute posters have left or threatening to leave and that saddens me no end. Maybe a message is being sent . For someone of your stature to have to depart ,while other less knowledgeable posters using vile language and insults remain, doesn't auger well for this sight IMO. Henry, you are the best and I hope things
    work out for you...Burt...:good

    Here's an E-Mail I sent to
    This content is protected
. I also wrote all the moderators, of which only Freddy Kruger responsed, saying that he didn't know why either.

Hi, my name is Henry Hascup and I first want to say that I really like your site. You can google my name and you will see that I am a very respected person in the sport of boxing. I have been the President of the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame for 26 years, the NJ Diamond Gloves for 24 years, the New Jersey Association of USA Boxing, I am an editor on BoxRec, I am on 2 voting Committees for the International Boxing Hall of Fame, I am the Boxing Historian for many organizations, including Ring 8, NJ Boxing HOF, New York Boxing Hall of Fame and the BWAA.

The reason I am writing you is that I have a problem. For the last few years a very good member by the name of Bukkake, who's real name is Finn Gommesen, comes up with this quiz. It has 15 questions for 15 rounds. It took a lot of research to come up with these questions. When someone answers the question right he puts up there screen name along with the answer under the question. Example:

ROUND 15: Who was the last/latest boxer to challenge for a world title - without any known pro experience?
hhascup: Arturo Mayan (who in 1994 was ko'd 90 sec. into the 1st round by Alex Sanchez, in a fight for the WBO minimumweight crown).

This New Years Day Bukkake put up another 15 round quiz. I spent several hours trying to answer all his questions and when it was all over I answered 11 of the 15 before anyone else. I did the same last New Years Day as well.

Now the problem, after the quiz was over, someone deleted it for some reason. Bukkake wrote the moderators but he didn't get an answer as to why. So I made a new thread asking if anyone knew why it was taken off the site. Several members wrote back saying that they didn't know, so then I wrote, well we don't know why the Quiz was taken down, and now we don't know why where not getting an answer from any of the moderators. Right after that, my thread was taken off.

I can see the Quiz being deleted by accident, but to have my question being deleted too, that's a real long shot.

I have been a moderator & a trivia checker for many many sites and I always treated people with respect.

It just looks like someone don't like us.

I see the "F" word used many times and no one deletes any of them, why would they delete us.

Just to let you know, I am also a Deacon in my Church for the last 25 years.

Can you help us out and find out why they took these threads off the site.

    Thanks beforehand, Henry Hascup

And now I think I realize why I've been dropping off my activity here dramatically as of late. I don't submit posts to rack up a higher total, nor do I have the expertise to cut and paste. I put some time and effort into many of my submissions, and don't care to have that trashed by unexpected deletions when I cancel most of my own posts upon preview before ever clicking "Submit Reply."

Henry's right. Why bother at all? :conf Burt, when some posters gave you some unprompted grief, a bunch of us came out of the woodwork to let you know you had a great deal more friends on this site who appreciated your contributions and presence, something you indicated turned an attack on you into an uplifting experience. But this is different, with no potential for a positive outcome unless it's proved to have been stopped and remedied. Posters like Klompton banned?:huh Boilermaker retiring from ESB? (Also for deletions, specifically Seamus's highly informative and interesting Harry Greb versus Les Darcy thread.) One of those expressing dismay about Boilermaker's departure was Cross_Trainer, himself a moderator when I first arrived here at Classic. Now, finding out that Bukkake, one of Henry's very favorite posters for his trivia challenges has also had a thread deleted exacerbates the issue. Burt, if you hadn't run away with the "Rookie of the Year" award here on ESB Classic in 2010, Bukkake may well have been the winner.

If it doesn't stop, ESB Classic may become a wasteland, even with the black and gold graphics, and that would be a tragedy with all the new and younger fans arriving here all the time, hungry for knowledge and information about the history of the sport. (ESB has been the best learning experience I've enjoyed in ages, easily since the advent of the internet.)

Poster morale is now being gutted here.

Well, with respect to "oldies," this is Classic after all, and Barney Ross would have easily gotten a Congressional Medal of Honor instead of a mere Silver Star for what he did at Guadalcanal, if he'd done it instead in Afghanistan or Iraq (and in fact even the living MOH recipients who did come back from the Middle East have said they think the bar's been lowered considerably)
:nonoNow, now, this isn't about toughness, but respect, civility and wasted effort.

Trivia is about having fun, as is this whole forum in general. The only entity possibly having fun here is issuing bans and deletions, but how much fun is left to be had when there is eventually nothing available to ban and delete? It's ultimately self destructive when first rate historians and witnesses to history simply choose to abandon the site in favor of greener pastures where their effort and input will be respected, appreciated and preserved.

I'm a believer in laissez-faire, and that we're fully capable of policing and chasing out sub par posters ourselves. We're not diapered babies:| who need to be bottle fed and babysat (at least not most of us).

Bottom line is not a matter of feelings but practicality. Why waste time and effort on a thread or post when the threat clearly persists that it might all be randomly deleted anyway?

There are thoughtful, civil and literate posters here, and their loss dumbs us all down, to the lowest common denominator (in this case, General).

"Criticism is praise misphrased." Might be best to head it off before the criticism stops, and all praise, misphrased or otherwise, is silenced.

People are reluctant to answer the thread starter's question because of all this crap, and it was posed by a participant in the sport's history himself.

well said. this forum is an AMAZING resource that has personally benefitted me greatly. i owe so much to so many posters and it would be terrible to see them leave and deprive fans like myself, and new fans, their knowledge and experience

D,thank you for your sentiments. It is posters as yourself and others, civil and informed, who has made my time on ESB a delight for these past 2 years. Seeing some of the best and astute posters no longer with us, and a few on shaky ground, leaves me very sad. They had innate class, and were serious posters impossible to replace. I suppose that the only thing permanent in life is CHANGE, but it is not always for the best..Cheers D:hi:.

So, it's fine to have a moderator sit on unemployment benefits for the ultimate legal duration (lazy excuse making liability to society), however it seems inappropriate for prominent and respectable boxing figures to express their knowledge of boxing on this site. I'm lost.

    Signed, bewildered.
