You want him to knock out every slick boxer and runner in the first round?
Duran didn't have trouble with boxers in his prime, it's a myth.

Duran beats both on the same night.

Arcel was senile when he came to that conclusion. Duran mops the floor with him.

I agree completely, Mayweather and Whitaker are the only ones that stand a chance.

Mayweather too. They have a chance of outpointing him.
Bu they are the only 2, he destroys the rest.

I doubt Mayweather has an actual chance of winning. He's had way too many issues with Castillo, Maidana and Chavez were all clearly inferior pressure fighters. Sure, he'd be very competitive and would win his fair of share of rounds but I don't think he'd win.

Whitaker, on the other hand, was much better vs pressure fighters.

No doubt. He and his brother Tommy would always be included in a great contenders list. I simply meant on the subject matter I was writing about, that people were saying that since Ray Arcel saw both Benny Leonard and Duran fight that we should simply take his word. So I added his Mike Gibbons pick to this as well to make the point that we all tend to favor our heroes from yesteryear.

We all know of Duran, I admit he was no push over, and a guy you'd thing twice before getting in the ring with. Will, i know of a guy, Armstrong, Ambers, Canzoneri, Jenkins, Zivic and Sugar Ray Robinson wouldn't get in the ring with. Duran couldn't hit this guy in the ass, and would be cut up within three rds. There is no film footage that you can compare, and discuss this point. Willie Pep, Billy Conn, Barney Ross, Ray Arcel, Jimmy McLarnin, Billy "The Fargo Express" Pettrole, Freddie Steel, Benny Leonard, Gene Tunney, Bromberg, Johnny Coulon, Joe Jacobs manager of Max Schmeling, Eddie Mead manager of Armstrong, Mike "The Octopus" Jacobs who controlled all the Champions in NY. and protected them from Mr. Day. It's all proven by forensic evidence. All verifiable facts with numerous clippings. Google; Davey Day vs. Henry Armstrong, Davey Day vs. Lou Ambers. Day was expected to fight Hank, in a rematch. He was offered $35,000 and percentage of the gate to fight Day in Chicago, he turned it down. Davey pummeled Lou Ambers in a nontitle fight in 1937, and was robbed. He was still #1 Lightweight & Wel . contender in 1940. The N.B.A. stripped Ambers of his Title for not fighting Davey. on March 22th 1940. for good reason I am. sure. In comes Mike Jacobs NYSAC sanctioning 4th rated fighter Lew Jenkins, connected with the NY establishment . By the way in 1937 Pian and Winch managers of Day and Ross offered $35,000 to Ambers and turned it down. Henry Armstrong had to carried out of ring still wearing his Crown in fight with Davey. He was sent to hospital to get stitched up of deep gashed eye, cast on right hand, severely bruised left and marks on face. Davey went home to Chicago with a red eye. Read the description of the content on the Golden age of Boxing. Don't forget to Google or go to Ebay, you don't have to bid or buy anything of listed photos. Peace.

    Edwin was beaten soundly.
Viruet was a real good boxer. Slick, cocky as hell and he proved tough as nails. He moved alot but when he was cornered by the relentless Duran he took some punches that would have put away many lightweight. Edwin was an impressive fighter IMO
