    Wlads longevity is incredible

How many other Heavyweifht champions at age 39 could defeat an undefeated 27 year old 6'9 250lb # 4 contender in the world like tyson fury?

If Wlad beats fury, he deserves a lot of credit

well given there's No Giants, and height & reach, which is 'thee' massive problem, even between very good vs average fighter, it is still the biggest hurdle of all.

start your list and Fury doesn't win against any True Top HW's reaching as far as 500 and more over history...

even as the giant that he is you'd still find a couple of hundred!

Wtf are you on about? I'm wondering if im the only one who didn't understand a word you wrote.

Not many could have beaten him and even less would have beaten him.

forget about the age part (39), of the question... your left with "what HWs could beat him?"

well these hypothetical & fantasy matches are always "on an EQUAL playing field and H2H/P4P, peak scenario.

So ALL things EQUAL, the HW's are in & around 6' 2" and 215lbs... Over 150 years of boxing Tyson Fury wouldn't be found in a list of the 500 BEST Top Fighters & Contenders, including Fringe Contenders...

that's only 3-5 HWs Per Decade over 150 years of boxing, that kick the living s h I t out of him.

simple math and even simpler reality Per Decade as there were easy 30 Top HWs fighters throughout each of the decades.

Which ones were fighting at 39 or over ?

I'm guessing most of the few that were would beat Fury.
Fury is relatively sh!t, but he's getting his chance to prove otherwise.

Completely agree with your last sentence. If Fury becomes HW Champion of the world, the sport really has gone down the toilet. As someone who has loved the HW championship since I was a little kid, that would break my heart (as much as anything within the relatively trivial world of sport would).

I know I can be accused of romanticism here but Sullivan, Johnson, Dempsey, Louis, Marciano, Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Holmes, Tyson, Holy, Lewis... ... ... ...Fury...f*ck me...a sad day in my book.

I think George Foreman in his comeback could have beaten Fury.

I don't think it would be easy but yes.. George would knock him out. I'll also ad Wlad's brother Vitali to that list. An old Holmes might have gotten a decision against him.. Not sure about Holyfield, but he was still pretty tough at 39.

Vitali, and Lewis are easy picks.

Maybe the comeback version of Foreman.

    Possibly Holyfield

Lewis retired at 37 so technically he doesn't qualify.

Foreman, Holmes, Vitali and Holyfield are probably about the only names who were both still active at 39 and stood a real chance. Just about everyone else I can think of was either retired by that age or didn't have enough left in the tank to do the job.

I actually think Fury has improved a bit skill wise and is worthy of a top 5 spot.

He has beaten two men who were in the top 10, and is undefeated and in his prime. A fine choice for a title defense. The pre fight hype and the knockout will be excellent.

Posters in England just don't like Fury because he prefers Ireland.

Fury actually comes from a fighting family and has an interesting background.

Technically yes, but I'd still pick him to win at age 39.
