Bowe, Tyson & Holyfield avoided Lennox as long as they could.
Bowe blatantly renaged , Tyson allowed King to give Lennox $4 mil to step aside & let him fight Seldon next. Even Evander had the most crooked officiating on his side when he was forced to fight Lennox. A 100% in shape Lewis wa dominant over all.
The only reason Lewis never made Fighter of the Year was because he was a BRITISH Heavyweight If Lewis was a US fighter he would have beenatsch

 

it depends on what your excuse are for Ali's losses. lets hear them.

i've already said that Ali looked good against slow fighters, but someone who could move either beat him or nearly beat him. Ali took some beatings between those ropes. they weren't flukes or anything like that. his boxing ability gets overrated like crazy on here. it wouldn't actually surprise me if they hadn't watched the vast majority of his fights. i did his career not too long ago and i forgot how boring and overrated he was to be honest. those beatings and losses don't count against Ali though do they? they were by inferior fighters not fit to lick the jock strap of Lennox.

under the circumstances that Lewis was under? there's a huge chance that Ali gets knocked out by that shot. there isn't another Heavy i can think of that would be standing after that.
Holyfield had a great chin but he got taken out by a short right hand by Bowe in the 3rd fight. does that mean that he's got a chin problem? no it doesn't. it wasn't anywhere near to being as big as the one that Lewis got caught by. so these KO's he suffered are people talking rubbish. Louis got beaten up and taken out by a washed up Schmelling. does this go against Louis on this site though? no it doesn't. Louis nearly got taken out by the bum that was Toney Galento for crying out loud. he was knocked down and hurt badly, one more good shot and he's toast. Lennox wouldn't have looked past someone with Louis' reputation. he wouldn't have let him get close at all. 2 rounds if Joe is lucky, it would be a complete miss-match. so, if it affects the legacy of Lewis, it has to affect theirs as well. lucky shots against an unprepared Lewis, whereas Louis took some beatings AND got KO'd. Ali took that many beatings it's hard to keep up. and this was done by fighters with little skill.

Lennox is far too good for Ali, Foreman or any other Heavy you care to mention. his boxing ability is second to none. :deal

you talk like the come back for Foreman actually had more legs than what actually happened. he was getting beaten by a Glass jawed fighter known stamina issues. when he ran out of steam, George took advantage. a few minutes in time, the rest was spent getting beat. by everybody. right time, right place, right fighter. against any other and George doesn't get any sort of belt back. that's the truth. very good win, but nothing more.

yeah, but Hopkins was an ATG before AND after the Joe fight. Foreman can't be called any sort of genuine ATG, his resume is far too thin. sorry.

you clown, Lewis would break Ali in half. Ali isn't coming close to competing with that reach and talent. throw in the size and it's a complete miss-match. Ali is an overrated boxer to say the least. it isn't happening in any way shape or form.

i'm not saying that Rahman would KO Ali, but Ali sure as hell has been beaten by fighters on the Rahman level. he's had many beatings from them as well.

oh, and Lewis didn't prepare properly for Rahman the first time around. judge him on the rematch when he was focused. it was a slaughter.

Louis fought a **** load of bums, past best former champs and a few good, but no better than that, contenders. it's the longevity of Joe's reign, not the comp. we all know about the bum of the month club.

Bowe low balled Lewis with a lousy contract that no one would take. but Lewis DID in fact accept it just to get the championship. Bowe and his team turned around and said that it no longer was on the table.

i believe it has more substance than Ali's. Ali did fight a lot of ESPN promoted fighters that were overrated like hell. Lewis fought the talented fighters overall.

Lewis didn't even turn pro until 89. Tyson went to prison 2 years later.

when Tyson came back, Lewis was to fight for the WBC that Bruno held because he was the number 1 contender but King paid step aside money on the promise that he'd get the fight he really wanted against Tyson when he won. Tyson ****ed him over by dropping the belt because he didn't want it. he went for the easier fight instead against Holyfield. Tyson was scared to death of Lewis. just like his fellow Brooklynite, Bowe.

Foreman made it very public that he wanted nothing to do with Lewis. he acknowledged that he'd be sent packing against him. hard.

King being his promoter wanted to keep him away as he would have lost the titles due to him not having Lewis in his stable. King knew who the best was. when they did fight, King made sure to have a rematch clause to try his best to keep hold of the Heavyweight champion, but it failed. even though he made sure they ripped Lewis off in the first fight.
