Ali was also stripped of the WBA title for giving Liston an immediate rematch, as strange as that sounds.

"""I recently watched old ESPN show and according to Max and Brian - WBA stripped Clarence "Bones" Adams of the super bantamweight title even tho he actually tried to fight his top contender - Yober Ortega, but Venezuelan challanger rejected an offer. They took the title from Adams and handed it to Ortega (...)."""

Wilfredo Benitez for refusing to give Antonio Cervantes a rematch

Benny Lynch for weighing in for his title defense of his flyweight title at a whopping 118 1/2.

Ken Buchanan for signing a rematch with Ismael Laguna after being notified that #1 contender Pedro Carrasco could no longer make 135. Until Carrasco - after Buchanan signed the contract for Laguna - claimed he could make 135 afterall. This one was so much BS.

Wasn't Tyson stripped for refusing to fight Lewis. A very murky affair I recall.

Tyson paid step aside to face Seldon instead of Lewis, and as a part of that deal, Lewis was to face Bowe - provided Lewis beat Mercer and Bowe beat Golota. Bowe-Lewis would never happen, as Bowe rematched Golota and retired, and Tyson ultimately vacated to face Evander instead. I don't think Tyson was technically stripped, although I suppose that's a grey area, in general.

The one that always stuck in my craw was one that Longhorn mentioned in his initial post. And that is the WBC stripping Bobby Chacon of his jr. lightweight title. This one is right up there with the Buchanan/Laguna/Carrasco debacle for me. Bobby has two offers on the table. $250,000 to defend against Don King's promoted Hector Camacho or $450,000 to defend against the WBC's #1 contender Boza Edwards. A no-brainer, right? The WBC's #1 man and for $200,000 more. Of course, guess who the WBC backed over their own #1 contender? Talk about having the entire organization in his back pocket.
