And what were their best wins before the successful title fight?

    I'll start with these.

Vasyl Lomachenko. Beat Gary Russell jr.
Best (and only at that time) win vs Jose Ramirez

Gervonta Davis. Beat Jose Pedraza in 8
Best win in pre-title run vs Luis Sanchez

Michael Bentt. Knocked out Tommy Morrison in 1.
Best win in pre-title run vs Mark Wills

Charles Martin. Stopped Vyacheslav Glazkov via injury in 3.
Best win in pre-title run vs Joey Dawejko

Frank Bruno won the WBC Title without beating a Top Ten fighter that was under the age of 30. Don`t know who his best win was before this.

Luis Santana, Jorge Vaca, Alfredo Layne.

I think Layne did beat someone ranked in the WBA top 10 but the guy was very obscure and debatable whether he should have been rated. Thomas Rodriguez.

Both Michael Spinks and Roy Jones jr. didn’t beat even one heavyweight fighter, ranked or unranked before winning versions of the heavyweight title.

    Pascual Perez
    Paul Weir
    Kyung-Yung Lee

None of them defeated even a single boxer with a winning record, prior to becoming champion.
